Beginning of weight loss journey

Nov 06, 2009 - 4 comments

Ugh! Where do I start ?! I went to drs today and weighed in at 297 (OMG!). This is the biggest I have EVER been and I refuse to hit 300. I decided to join a dr moitored weight loss clinic (they prescribe phentermine) and my first appt there is 11/16/09. Until 11/16 -- I intend on dieting on my own and trying to shape up my eating habits. I am determined to reach my goal without weight loss surgery (which at this point is not an option for me since I have 3 children that need me to care for them). I am scared that if I dont get this weight off that my health will not stay (my blood pressure at this point is not elevated but I dont want that to change etc -- I am HEALTHY except for my weight issues). I have tried numerous "fad diets" as I am sure most people have -- I have had NO success (with the exception of Alli which is having problems causing other medical issues so I stopped those meds -- I clearly gained my weight back UGH!). This is the beginning to the new lifestyle I intend on living -- wish me luck as I need support (like most of us do).

Best of luck darling! You will do great! Back in May of 09 I weighed 209. I was 19 at the time. It's not near the heaviest i've been but it's still hard to handle being out of shape and young. I went to a local doctor and she has a weight loss plan. You have to be overweight, obviously. You have to have the drive to want to change. You have to know that although the pill will help boost your body, you have to change ur eating and lifestyle. I changed it all. You start on Bontril for 2 mo. then swap to Phentermine for 2 mo. and alternate back and forth so your body doesnt plateau. I dropped 10 or 11lbs my first 3 months. I now weigh a healthy 167. Be prepared for constipation and racing heart beat and hot flashes. Drink plenty of water too, not only will it keep you hydrated it helps you burn more fat! You will do amazing! :)

Good luck on your journey, I know how you feel and will need it. I started taking Phentermine 2 weeks into September and wieghed 281 at that time. Now im at 263 but my food addiction has stopped me from losing alot more. The pills work great at the beginning and if you can stay focused and motivated then they should help. I would love a weight loss buddy and to encourage each other. Water is crucial to keep you from having dry mouth and helping with the fullness feelings. The pills will give you extra energy at the start so that's the best time to exercise or just move around more.

Hi, I want to say to stay focused. i am so happy i found this forum. i took phentermine a few years ago i didn't like it. like all the other weight loss  programs i have tried, i never stick to them. i went to my primary care doctor abt 4wks ago as i had been having pain. She warned me that i am at high risk of cancers, high blood pressure and the works. i asked her to order me something; to my supprise she ordered me phentermine. i took it for abt two days stopped and then started eating again. last wk monday i started with a trainer; worked out for 3days, thursday i started takinng the pills, "I AM DOWN to 10lbs". I was 307 on november 9th i weighed yesterday i am 297. i am so excited. i am not really hungry but, i am eating like subway for fast food, make sure i eat breakfast,30mins after i take the pill, i eat salads and basically i pay close attention to highl fat and sugars. i am also drinking alot of  water and not eating after 7pm as i work at nights and go to school during the day. Hectic schedule. I would appreciate all feedback and look forward to your partnership as we support each other.
