So my first three rounds of clomid did not work.  I decided to take a month, (or maybe more) off from taking it.  I do not have any fertility coverage from my insurance so I am trying to get as much help from my ob/gyn as I can, which unfortunaltly is not the same as seeing a fertility dr. Anyway i was wondering if there was anyone out there who took a break from clomid and got pregnant during that time.  Im praying it will happen for me soon, i need to hear encouraging news from others.

Hey thanks for the friend invite...sounds like we are going thru the same thing. Have they said why you are having problems ttc? I have only seen my OB dr and we really have not ran many tests. How was Clomid for you? I didnt like how it made me feel and it has been nice not taking it this month. I am having a u/s done on CD13 too see if I produce follies on my own.....not sure why they didnt do that before putting me on that icky stuff.

I know, I wonder why my OB/GYN has not monitored me while I was on clomid. I don't even know for sure if it made me ovulate.  I read what others on here write while on clomid and they talk about getting ultrasounds to see if they ovulated, I never had anything like that done.  I did not like the way clomid made me feel at all! I even felt mentally off, I had alot if anxiety.  Im hoping I get pregnant on my own so I dont have to go back on it.  so I am a little confused with the fertility lingo, what is CD13 mean  And are follies mature eggs? Thanks for the note!!!!

When I first got on Clomid in Aug my dr didnt say anything about having a u/s or monitoring to see if I Oed. I had to ask them after getting info from this site. I also did three rounds of it and this is my cycle being off. I really wish they would have done some testing w/out the meds first so I didnt take it in vain. I also felt "off" when I was on it. I was emotional, anxious, had hot flashes (but took it at night so that helped), oh and TERRIBLE HEADACHES EVERY NIGHT. CD day is cycle day...so I am on CD10 (ten days counting the day of my period) and I will have my u/s on CD 13. And follicles are what the eggs are inside (I believe). They measure them about the day you O and they want them to be atleast 18mm-22mm I think. Then if they are that big they sometimes give you a trigger shot (HCG) that will help you release them (which is what I had done my last two cycles on Clomid). Now keep in mind that if they give you a trigger shot it is a pregnancy hormone and that will give you a positive preg test if you take one too early. What CD are you on?

i am on cd16, i had a pos ovulation test yesterday (the at home sticks you pee on).  This month i did not take clomid.  I have a gut feeling that my husbands sperm is not making it to where it needs to be and I think thats the problem.  I dont know if my insurance covers that proceedure where they shoot the sperm up into the cervex.  Ever hear of it?  I have an appointment with my ob/gyn in the middle of dec so Im going to ask him about that.  So are you trying this month? what is a u/s on cd13?

We have done the exact methods and same months. I am trying this month. I did Clomid Aug, Sep and Oct and took Nov off. I will have my u/s (ultrasound) done on cycle day 13. We had my husbands sperm tested and his motality was way low-I think that means they can swim very fast. Have you had your husbands tested? All I did was ask my dr for a cup and he gave me one, we took his sample into the hospital and the lab sent the results a week later (that way we didnt have to pay for a dr appt for him) From what I hear it should be one of the first things done when having problems concieving-and of course again my dr didnt inform me of that I found out on here. The procedure you are talking about where they shoot the sperm is called IUI and yes that is our next step, I feel it is best because of his swimmers.

Hi, I took a 2 month Clomid break and did get pregnant on my own the month we were not even trying. I was on a high dose of Clomid 150mg and could not stand the side effects any longer. To top it all off I needed back surgery. So it was an easy decision for me to stop Clomid for a while.  Welll, sure enough I got preggers and am now 30 weeks.  The doc who did monitor me closely while on the med with U/S and lab work thinks that Clomid kick started my ovulation.

However in reading your journal it is possible either that Clomid did not work for you or you were never on the appropriate dose. It drives me nuts how clomid is prescribed like crazy and yet the doc does not even monitor you to make sure it is working. Ugh... how frustrating!

Best of luck to you both!
Hugs!!

My situation is a bit like Kelly's.  The second cycle I came off of clomid I got pregnant again.  I lost that one, but the next one stuck and I too am now 31 weeks.  Have you asked your Dr. about clomid perhaps having a negative affect for you?  My heart goes out to you, I know how stressful and heartbreaking this whole ttc process can be.  I truly wish you well.

Thanks for the positive comments ladies. I think when you see an OB/GYN they just dont monitor you as well. I really wish they would have tested me for other things before starting me on Clomid. I really hate even typing that word. I felt like crap and I was only on 50mgs and w/ out any other testing my dr wants to up it....I think he is crazy and should take the med HIMSELF!!!  He he! Anyways I am trying to stay positive thru all of this heartache....and maybe just maybe this unmedicated cycle is the one for me :)

Caroline, I am sorry to hear about things not working out. If you go to a RE (reproductive endocronligist) (SP?) as time goes on you will learn the lingo.  After clomid doing the injectable medicine can be costly.  I am not sure where you live but I am in NY.  My Dr's office has grants so that they give you meds & you have to pay for blood work & maybe u/s.
I can tell you that prior to going one of the tests you can do with OBGYN is ask them to send you for a HSG (hystroplingogram)  It's were they shoot dye up your tubes to make sure they are open.  If you don't do it now you will have to do it when you go to RE.  It's a start!!

Best Wishes to you!!!!!!!

My husband and I tried everything it seemed like the medical world could throw us! We gave up after a long struggle and a horrible miscarriage - even though all test come back saying that we are two very healthy people with no problems???

Then by chance - almost 10 years after our last try - I stumbled upon VITEX (chasteberry) at whole foods just to help regulate my cycles. Guess what? After taking it for one month - IM PREGNANT! Totally off guard and unaware. I've since heard many say they got pregnant with VITEX within a 2-3 month timeframe...since there's so many variables, who knows for sure...

If you seem like you're at the end of your doctors option...maybe this might help you. I would've never guessed - just wished I had know of this option earlier. Maybe it might help someone out there as well...
Good luck to you all...xo
