Ok today I felt weird during sleep. It was scary cuz I couldn't move. This isn't the first time it has happened but once in awhile it does. I am not sure if I'm part asleep or not but I tell you it is scary. Anyway I read about sleep paralysis and some of what I heard sounds like what I go through. It gives me the feeling like I'm dying but of course I'm not. It may happen tomorrow because it sometimes happens for two or three nights in a row then I don't have it for a long time. I've never had a sleep study done or anything but it's hard to when it only happens once in awhile and I don't have a clue when the next time I'll feel this way. So it's complicated. I think I'll read more on the subject may even post something. Well anyways I thought I would share. Talk later ok.

Wow that must have been scary to not be able to move. Do you think there is something wrong with you? I've never heard about it before. Are you still having the problem?

It could mean something is wrong with me. If you want to know more about it just read in the sleep disorder forum. That's where I got my info from. And I haven't had that problem since. So far anyway. I'll have to see how it goes.

I have only had this once.. very scary. From what I've read about it, it happens more often when you sleep on your back and when you have a lot of stress.

It's happened to me several times before, and someone would always have to touch me to get me out of it. I used to whimper so my husband could hear me and reach over, because that's the most I could do. As soon as he would touch me I was pretty much free to move...but it's terrifying. It happened the most when I was taking Xanax for anxiety attacks....it has happened once or twice in the past few years but nowhere near as often as it did when I was on the meds. All I can say is that I know how scary it is but I'm pretty sure you come out of it eventually on your own.

That might explain it. I am under a lot of stress. I don't usually sleep on my back but the first time it happened when I was 18 I was on my back. It don't happen often to me but it does a few times between 1 and 3 months. It is very scary when it happens. I would get a sleep study done but since it's so unpredictable when I have this it probably won't show anyhting. I've read about some people having this all the time. Also that some people will see scary things during one. I can't open my eyes when I have this problem. Maybe it's a good thing. I don't know. Thanks for the comments.

I have to wait it out. I can't scream or anything. I want to, but I can't. All I can do is hope that it passes soon. I don't have anyone to touch me to get me out of it. So yeah it would pass on it's own. I know. I was still typing my other message when a comment came on so that's why I typed up agian.

I used to have this happen all the time. It feels like you are being held down. You can't move and you try to scream but its impossible. Read about incubus...in my culture (latin) they believe its an evil spirit that is in love with you and trying to seduce you. However, I've studied psychology for years and know it is due to anxiety. It hasn't happened to me in years and I'm not sure why since I've had highly stressful events occur. I guess I just learned how to deal with it in my waking life instead of in my sleep.

Guess what it happened agian last night. It scared me a lot. It felt like I was stuck like that forever. It was so scary. It really was. I thought I would be ok now since I hadn't had it for several days but no. I'm not ok. It happened agian and it felt worse than ever. It just seemed to take me longer to come out of it. It was horrible. That's my update.

Oh that's terrible. I can't even imagine how you felt or anyone else with that problem. So it was worse? How can it be worse? You can't move. That is awful! I hope you feel better.

It felt like I was in that problem longer than normally. It's like nothing could bring me out of it. I felt really terrible. I couldn't move. I wondered if I would be stuck like that forever. It was awful! It really was. That's why I felt that way. And that is why it was worse this time then it was the other times it happened in my life.
