I recently think I got a cut in my mouth or possibly my tooth broke the skin on the inside of my lip.  It has since become sore and infected I think, and it looks white, but it doesn't seem to fit the bill for herpes.  It is not visible with my mouth closed.  The problem is that if I bit my lip and it got infected, I don't remember doing so and I don't get sores like this in my mouth often.  What should I do because it bothers me and I want to know what it is because I have a girlfriend who I don't want to expose, even though I may have already.

i had genital herpes it is like a cold sore for example if someone had a cold sore on there lips and that person touched u in the genital area then it can cause genital herpes.
