Feelin Old

Jul 02, 2008 07:38PM - 4 comments

Oh' sometimes I have all the energy necessary to charge any windmill, but other times reality gives me a sharp nip and all I want is a little cabin in the woods and birds and animals that would dwell with me.  Does anyone else ever feel they were born a century or more too late and this world just doesn't FIT?

I do miss the animals so, I have some squirrels and lizards that think I'm pretty neat but I'm really not at my best in the city and wonder how I'm suposed to find the strength necessary to make even a little change in the crazyness going on in this world...  The Dali Lama, I'm not and sometimes the wounded spirit just wants to shut down and escape to be with the bears and wolves...  they will either like me, avoid me or eat me and those kind of clear messages would be a welcome change!

I'm tuckerd out, and if anybody is reading please pray for me to find the strength I need right now.  I probably won't know my exam grade till next week, and have to find a new place to live and it's all gotten to be a bit much.

SBF, I know exactly what you mean.  I would love to live in the middle of no place, with just animals.  No neighbors.  I do feel that I would feel much better.  I hate living in the city also but land is too expensive and not being able to work has messed up my credit.  I just wanted to say, you sound so much like me or I sound so much like you.  Its amazing.

I hope you feel better soon

I understand about being born to late. I've worked my whole career in Manhattan and hated the commute! I would love to retire to Main or Vermont, but it will not happen.
We had a Siamese cat almost 18 years she was very  verbal and very needy,  we had  her cremated and now have her ashes with our other  Siamese. no more pets. I will see the Orthopedic Surgeon the end of the month and I hope to have my right knee replaced early part of Sept. I'm just concerned
about blood clots because of my two factors. the Hematologist said they will put me on Coumadin for a few months and the filter
should help.

I live in the suburbs of a big city. I am able to have  chickens, turkeys, and a pygmy goat. It is my little piece of heaven. There is nothing more soothing to my soul, than to take my coffee outside, and watch the critters, and the squirels playing in the trees.

It makes me praise the Lord for His beautiful creation.

I can very much relate.  I grew up and lived most of my life in the city.  Six years ago I finally lived my dream and bought a country hobby farm.  We had 23 acres (rented out 10 to a farmer), a 2 acre spring fed pond stocked with large mouth bass and sunfish, and a huge barn.  We ended up breeding exotic chickens for eggs and as pets and a huge garden.  My husband left the corporate world and tended to the property, our dog was happy and my son thrived.  When I drove home from work and hit the trees on the road I immediately went into relax mode.  After 4 years we realized my business circumstances plus the cost of upkeep there would require us to downsize.  We sold the property and moved into a small (3,500) town and are enjoying that.  We do hope to get another country property one day.  My friends and family were so surprised to see me embracing country life.  As I'm getting older the quiet life and small home away from the city is enough.  I don't need the fancy house and cars and lifestyle anymore.  I am much happier.
