HELLO THYROID GANG ~ A NEW UPDATE ON THE NEWSLETTER I GET ~ IF THEY REMOVE THE ADDRESS, I CAN SEND IT TO YOU IF YOU MSG ME PRIVATELY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>:-}}
We just realized that hundreds of you did not get this
email from last week so we decided to send it again.
Hope it works this time.
Okay, here is once more..
Today is the day to answer some of the questions we
have got and to give you an update on that special project
we are working on. So let's get moving first to the
questions..
Thank you for this email - I have been cooking with
garlic for a long time but I guess I will follow your
suggestion and add it at the end. Unfortunately I just
read in a health magazine that garlic is slows down
the thyroid function. Now I am all puzzled.
A: Well, there could be some truth in that but the thing
is that it is not well established that garlic slows down
the thyroid function. Some informal reports say that
iodine absorption by the thyroid, and the production of
thyroid hormone may be impaired with garlic supplementation.
According to our best knowledge, eating garlic, in
moderation, is not a problem to hypothyroid people. Perhaps
the best thing to do is to avoid taking garlic tablets or
supplements and simply enjoy some fresh garlic with your food.
With all the incredible benefits garlic offers, unless you
are on blood thinning medications, non-steroidal anti
inflammatory drugs or are about to have surgery, we think
it's worth having a clove here and there.
Hi, whats your thoughts on wearing magnets for hypo
thyroid. e-hug, Dorothy
A: Dorothy, we don't have too much experience or information
about this topic but it's important to note that magnetic
therapy is growing in popularity because it's shown very
promising results and literally millions of people are
using it all over the world.
It seems that wearing a magnetic bracelet can improve
circulation, reduce pain and promote relaxation to some
people.
In Japan, magnetic therapy is recognized by the Ministry
of Health as a real therapy and many doctors prescribe
them. And many physicians in the US using magnetic therapy
have reported successful stories, some of them of people
with thyroid issues.
After learning a bit more about this we think that the
idea of wearing a magnetic bracelet could be good to relieve
pain and inflammation but for more complex conditions, such
as hypothyroidism, it would be best to consult a doctor who
has experience with magnetic therapy. In order to get the best
results possible the doctor needs to personalize the treatment
according to the whole set of symptoms present and also needs
to keep adjusting the positioning of the magnets as these
symptoms disappear or change.
A word of caution here. People wearing a pacemaker, electronic
implants or those using electric blankets should stay away
from magnetic products.
As with the rest of the alternative treatments available,
Dorothy, not everyone responds the same way to them. One has
to be very proactive and willing to do the homework to then
decide what makes sense for oneself and what works. It's a
journey, the same as life. Yeah, we too know about it ;)
Good morning Monica,
Thank you for all the helpful info on health.
I have a question for you - Cod Liver oil - can it be harmful
to the liver as normal fat and cooking oil is.
Babsie Financial Manager
A: Babsie, you are very welcome. We are happy to hear that
you are enjoying our health tips.
The answer is no. Cod liver oil, if it is of a high quality
and free of contaminants, contains many important nutrients
that promote a healthy heart, skin, joints, nervous system, and
bones among many other things.
Fish oils have been show to help depression and arthritis and
what's more, they assist the metabolism of fat. This is a good
fat that we encourage you to get regularly but make sure that
what you buy is purified and free of those nasty toxins and
chemicals found in the sea. One brand we like and use is
Carlson.
If you want to learn about other good fats that make you
healthier, slender and more energetic take a look at this
easy-to-follow diet plan that covers all the healthy foods
-and those to avoid- when hypothyroid. You will find it
very helpful.
Well, let's finish here. No worries, we will answer more
of your questions pretty soon.
Oh yes, before I sing off let me tell you that a very special
announcement is coming in the next few days. Keep your eyes
wide open because you will not want to miss a detail. It is
quite exciting, and life changing.
Wishing you good health and peace,
Monica
