I'd like to share this interesting article with you that I found in Time Magazine.
"Researchers can gather all the hard-nosed evidence they want about the effectiveness of a particular drug or treatment. But there's one figure doctors don't much talk about despite its importance. It's called Number Needed to Treat, or NNT, a new measure developed in the past 20 years that's one of the best-kept statistical secrets in medicine."

I'm a firm believer that pharmaceutical companies will oft NEVER find the cure.
There is no money to be made in the cure...
Yet the treatment --- with possible side effects - not only benefit the company --- especially the maintenance treatment --- but will benefit the companies for many years to come.
I think that it all boils down to money.
And whether drug companies believe that or not --- they need to take a moment and sit down and remember what they really are supposed to be... HOPE...
While I'm very glad for some drugs that are on the market --- there are a lot of drugs that SHOULDN'T even be there... Should never have made it past FDA approval.
New drugs should be looked at with intense scrutiny --- pros and cons should be weighed PRIOR to mass marketing independent of lobbyists.
And drug companies shouldn't be making massive profit margins.
Not that they shouldn't be rewarded....
But it shouldn't be a life and death issue in order to be rewarded.
Medicine has a long ways to go --- before I'll trust completely in all of the things that are being changed.
We are -- as a human race - changing our lives --- genetically with medications.
Some of them are good changes --- but change is change.
In many generations - if we survive our own self destruction --- we will be a changed race.
That's an interesting thing to think about.
