Low back pain itself is not the cause of digestive problems. However, the same problem that is causing your low back pain could ALSO cause digestive trouble. So it's not the "pain" that is causing anything... Pain is an effect, not a cause.
When the head, neck and spine are unbalanced, muscles can spasm, ligaments get strained, and nerve tissue can be irritated. This is a recipe for pain! The same nerves that control back muscles also contribute to digestion. So the two problems are often intertwined.
Many chiropractors have helped patients with digestive disorders like IBS, constipation and colitis. So it's not a stretch to think that a chiropractor might be able to help you.
I think it would be a great idea to find a doc in your area and consult with him about your condition. He/she will examine you and see if there's a spinal connection.
