I need help.

Jul 05, 2008 03:00PM - 8 comments

Someone tell me what to make for dinner.

It has to involve some of the following possible ingredients:

Bulgar
couscous
Brown rice
onions
green or red peppers
potatoes
lowfat shredded cheeses
eggs
salmon patties
tuna
spaghetti sauce
vegetarian meatballs
whole wheat linguine
carrots
a variety of frozen vegetables.

Thanks.  I'll just wait right here.

Lol...are you so tired that you can't even think straight enough to figure out what you want for dinner?

The salmon patties w/brown rice sounds really good to me! Do you have greens for a salad?

*startles awake, wipes drool off chin*

Oh yes, I do have greens.  That would be easy enough.  Would you please come over and fix dinner?  I just can't.

I could make that quinoa and butternut squash soup, but I'm just too impaired with fatigue to handle a squash right now.

Well, depending on traffic, I figure it should take me about 1 1/2 hours to get there, but I'd hate to go all that way to prepare dinner  just to have you be too tired to eat it!

Mr Peek wants to go out.  I'm too tired to even do that.  I want to lay on the couch and have my dinner and a nice glass of wine brought to me.

I had no idea you were that close!

Sounds like Mr. Peek is feeling much better!

Tell him to go get your dinner and bring it home to you. That's the least he can do after you nursed him back to health.

Yeah, I'm not that far from you. If there were no traffic I could probably make it down there in an hour or so.

With this set of ingredients, and assuming some spices, Swampy would have:

Made brown rice, adding some whole cloves.

Saute salmon patties, onions, pepper, mustard seed (adding additional mustard, in whatever form), and oregano in some oil.

Take the oil from the saute above and combine it with some cinnamon, add to the tomato sauce. Squeeze in some lime juice.  Cook a few minutes until done.

Bingo -- a faux Bengali dinner.

If you needed more food, cube and boil the potatoes until they are 3/4 done, separately carmelize onions, and dice the carrots. Add them to the onions, add some nutmeg and a touch of sweetening if you like, a little curry power, and saute until done.

Oh, good God.

That would have been a great dinner.   We would up getting chinese food.
