June 6 I had what felt like one million mammograms and a Ultrasound guided core biopsy which was subsequently diagnosed as Breast Cancer. One more suspicious area was identified after my first MRI and so on June 9, 2008 another set of mammograms and ultrasounds were ordered. No biopsy was done of the new suspicious area.
Yesterday my doctor told me she needed to insert one thin wire into my tumor via my radiologist before surgery on July 23,2008, so that she would know where to operate and remove the cancer. I have one tumor and one reactive lymph node snuggled together.
I also have a suspicious area near my nipple, which was discovered during my first MRI, seen during my second Mammogram and Ultrasound and confirmed with a second MRI which also has to have a wire placement. I then have to take my wire infested breast along with the x-rays to my hospital's out patient surgery dept. the day of surgery and have my lumpectomy.
My doctor will also do a sentinel node biopsy after nuclear medicine has injected dye into my axillary lymph nodes to check for metastasis to my axilla and if it's found it will also be radiated after surgery.
I have been approved for radiation and I'm glad because Lupus may sometimes not be as cooperative skin wise with radiation as it could be.. The doctor told me Scleroderma is the only illness that is now contraindicated for Radiation therapy.
I am a divorced mom of a darling son with Autistic Spectrum Syndrome who prefers to call it PDD. I don't object. He is the light of my life and I will do all I can to stay alive and well for him.
I have no words anymore, so I will just stop posting and get some sleep.
