Help me figure this out

Jul 06, 2008 09:30PM - 3 comments

I know this is really OT so to speak, but while at my husband's reunion over the 4th, this old saying came up.. and no one could remember who "wrote" it.. I guess I could just look it up but figured y'all could save me the trouble. Here it is and I'm probably not getting it exactly right..

' It is better to remain quiet and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt".. I've heard that all my life but  can't for the life of me figure it out..

Our family thanks you !!

You got me wondering, so I did look it up.  It is probably a quote from someone who took it from the Bible.

Proverbs 17:28- "Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue."

Good quote.  More people should take it to heart.

Actually Abraham Lincoln, but he may have gotten it from Proverbs.
