wondering about my Dad's treatment.

My dad had his bag removed about 3 weeks ago he started feeling sick to his stomach and in pain so he went to the emergency room where they said he had a bowel obstruction. They treated him for 6 days with the ng tube and on the 6th day did another ct scan and did surgery stated he had a hernia that was sunday nite. My sister called and said last night he had a rough time of it and he had some x-rays this morning he is still feeling nauseated. It this common I live over 225 miles away and wondering if anyone else experienced any of this.
