So I decided to spread the good feelings today and post a journal.
I am feeling really good today. I'm in a good mood, and I feel more confident today.. Everyone always talks about "the first 6 weeks" and how it gets easier after that.. Well before I even noticed what today was, I was in a good mood. Feeling good, too. Riley is 6 weeks old today. :D I'm sure it has a lot to do with my mom (THANKFULLY!) Taking Riley for most of the day yesterday. She wanted to show him off to her friends I think. But I slept a lot. I was so happy when I got him back though I missed him. I got some well needed rest, got rid of my terrible migraine.. And the day before yesterday I finally started my exercise routine. Today I worked out some and walked 1.2 miles back from my Dr. office and had my first post-natal appointment. I got my birth control, in the meantime of my (hopeful) IUD, I am using the Nuva-Ring.
Kelsey is having a good day.

Riley is sooo sleepy though.. It's weird. He only sleeps on days I don't need the rest, it seems. Hah.
I think it may be from being out in the heat.. No idea.

They also say that a calm mummy makes for a calm baby... :)

Maybe your good mood is rubbing off on him!  (Wouldn't it be nice if it worked like that?)

I don't know. I kind of found it condescending that they were insinuating that I was stressing my baby out.

Bah! I agree with you on that! My grandma also kept on basically telling me it was my fault for everything he was doing. Like I told her as soon as I lay him down he wakes up. She acts as if he's a psychic mind reader and said he picks up on the fact that I'm anxious and anticipating him to wake back up so it wakes him up. Although, you can stress your baby out, just not as easily as they say, I don't think. When I was really stressed out, he was too (which by the way, a screaming baby does NOT help stress any.)  :)

I'm going to ramble for a second,
I think babies pick up more so on the way we carry ourselves, the way we touch them and hold them, and most importantly, the expression on our faces... Much rather than simply knowing our feelings. You can tell when someone is frustrated or sad or happy, and babies do, too. I was reading about this study on the effects of a smiling baby to a mother.. They said that numerous studies had shown that a smiling baby whose mother reacted with a blank expression eventually turned away and showed signs of depression. Interesting, huh? Maybe if you're a real good faker... hahah
