Thank you Sandee! Do you have any information for assistance on Lexapro, Klonopin, Nuvigil, Provigil, Norco, Nucynta or any others? The info you have provider will also be very helpful for our patients at the PM Office I work for. I will share with my best friend, the phone nurse. She will be so excited to be able to help even more patients. Thank you!  Kelsgor0422

I am desperately seeking assistance paying for my pain medications as I have no prescription insurance. I had a four vertebrae fusion in 2007 (L-2 through L-5 Sacral), but I actually fractured my L-5 during the Gulf War in Feb 1991, and just "sucked it up" until I could stand it no longer, and had the procedure done by Dr. Evan Zeiger at the Norwood Clinic at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. I am an honorably discharged combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, and needless to say, my experience at the VA has been absolutely atrocious; no American veteran should be subjected to the sub-standard, barbaric, incompetent 'patient care' which is routine at VA hospitals across America.

I pay cash to see a private doctor who treats me very well, but the pharmaceutical companies offer many programs for payment assistance for several pain medications EXCEPT MORPHINE. In October 2013, my monthly supply of morphine MS Contin and morphine IR (for breakthrough pain) costs me, without prescription insurance, $156/month....now, just nine months later, it has skyrocketed to $410/month. I have sold almost everything of value that I own to pay for my meds, and I am literally at the end of my rope. I have a pitifully small monthly income ($1,236 social security plus $950 VA disability = $2,186/month with a spouse and two children). My wife lost her job in January when the business she worked for (for two years) closed down with absolutely no prior notice.

If anybody out there can point me in a direction where I might find someone willing to help pay for my medications, I would be extremely grateful. This is very humiliating for me to ask for help from strangers, but I literally have no choice. Yes, my parents are both deceased and I'm an only child; I have no family to turn to.

Sincerely,

David Russell
Alabama

Hi David,
.  I'm so sorry to hear your having so much trouble getting help. It is really immoral that you serve your country and can't get help!
I'll see what I can find as far as resources for you.
