Surgery Report

Jul 08, 2008 04:51PM - 5 comments

After this latest health scare I am really determined to get my whole self healthy.  I headed to GP today to address the concerns around my awful headaches, ulcers and swelling in my arms and legs and am happy he will work with me to get these issues solved and make me pain free.  What a dream!

Anyway, he reviewed the surgery report from my gyn with me.  I hadn't heard it since my follow up with gyn is on the 21st.  It wasn't one grapefruit sized cyst but multiple cysts which had bled into each other and my fallopian tube was swollen with fluid.  The adhesions in my abdomen are so bad that all my internal organs are glued together.  They put stents in my ureters to ensure they didn't cut them and then had one hell of a time getting the cysts, ovary and tube out.  Even though I had begged for a total hysterectomy they just couldn't fathom doing the unnecessary work to try and free the rest of my reproductive organs concerning the state they are in and the risk of knicking my colon.  He said I must have been living with these cysts for quite some time.  And, as I had been promised by my gyn, the pathology came back as benign :)

I am blown away.  I'm starting to wonder if I should be having ultrasounds with my annual check ups now to catch any problems on my left ovary in the future.  Hopefully with the steps I am taking to get myself healthy, fit, and lose weight, I will have an easy time recognizing when there is a problem in the future.

Here's to some motivation!
I hope you can find a new path that works to keep you healthy, happy, and problem free.
I think we could all use a little of that.
Congrats on the benign result, that's definitely a load off.
All the best on your road forward.

Trudie, you should most definitely have ultrasounds as part of your yearly checkups.  Look at what has gone wrong so far and he has already told you it looks like a train wreck in there.   I know you think you would recognize if something was wrong, like most of us do, but most of us don't Trudie, and that is why we have late stage cancer. Promise me you won't take any goofy chances like that when there is a simple diagnostic tool that can tell you if there is a problem.  I mean it Trudie, I already don't know how I am going to sleep tonight just thinking about you even considering not having them.   I have enough to worry about, I want you to promise me that you will have one every year when you have your mammogram.
I am glad to see that this experience has gotten you to reconsider your health issues.  You just can't take that stuff for granted and I am happy you went to your GP for a "whole body" discussion.  I actually need to have one of those with my GP.  Take care of  you Trudie. Nobody else is going to.
Love ya
