this site was so helpful before my mastectomy that I owe you a follow up.The operation and the reconstruction went well in spite of some glitch such as the fact that my surgeon had to finish his reconstruction after 2 days. so I went through 2 anestesias in 2 days ( 6 hours + 1 hour) yes diep flap hurts. You cannot walk for a few days and mostly hard to get in and out of bed. The recovery is long ( 6 long weeks) with great progress every 24 hours.
the result was so so. my left breast was much much smaller then my right breast. My surgeon went ahead after 2 months with a revision which was much more painful then expected and longer recovery then he told me.Result ...worse then before! he then told me after this that I should have an implant because he would not reduce my right breast to the size of the "new" one.(new one too small, I WAS A B CUP) Well the reconstruction process was to eliminate an implant. I am not too happy about this conclusion and do not think I will do anything in the future. I am still happy I did the reconstrution however because it seems like there is something there...far from being a beautiful breast but something.Would I recommend someone to do it? NOT SURE> make sure you have enough fat in your belly to reconstruct with a diep flap. It has been exactly 3 months and I feel ok with some pain here and there but ok.I did not need chemo. that was the great news.
