What if they're right?

Jul 13, 2008 07:52PM - 13 comments

So, what if the Witnesses are right? If so, then Jehovah can see what's in my heart, and that means The Icepick, Sweetling, and I will be together in the Garden to come after armageddon (sp?). If I make it to the Garden, of course. That's not too likely, is it?

I don't see enough of Sweetling, that's a fact. Apparently hubby's turning over a new leaf was a lot of hot air. Oh, he'll still try for a day or so, then back to the same old inconsiderate ways. The only thing that prevents me from taking care of her and treating her as she should be treated is the evil of jealousy. What a useless freakin' world this is. I wouldn't give you half a buck for the whole thing if not for certain folks on it.

Lordy Maisey McGillicutty but I'm tired of it all. So, so, so tired.

Next I'll get some judgemental folks telling me they don't see the purpose of this "post", so please be advised that this is not a "post", this is a JOURNAL, okay? Sometimes things just get to be too much, so I'll scratch my feelings down in here. Some things there's no one to talk to about. The only people I can talk to about these things are far away, in Canada and California and Ireland and like that. They're not always here, though, and they probably become weary of my whining like a lovesick teeny bopper. Hence this journal. This journal doesn't grow weary of my silliness.

I need to be with Sweetling more often, to take better care of her, to offset the damage done by her fool of a husband. Just in case there really is a God I pray every day that the Icepick and Sweetling could learn to love one another. Is that such a terrible thing to want? I hear so much idiocy.. I see so much idiocy.. I speak so much idiocy.. is there no room, anywhere, for a little plain and simple caring without all the modifiers?

Only in dreams is this world worth living in. The Witnesses say that Satan is ruler of this system of things. That makes a great deal of sense. Sure wish I had faith in a higher power.. with that and what the Witnesses teach, life would be great. However, no miracles seem to be forthcoming. So it's mine to watch the world struggle along, glorifying greed and posessiveness, calling foolish pride love ("Oh, I love him so much, but if he touched another woman I'd leave him"... what a stupid, stupid statement.. what she loves is herself, and her pride controls her so-called "love"). It's mine to watch the body bags continuing to return, and all the veterans turn over in their graves as "the people" blindly follow malevolent "leaders" to destruction... AGAIN.  It's mine to watch the strrets, where a stream of Lexus and Lincoln and Cadillac automobiles stream past a homeless vagabond.

If they're right, the 'pick and Sweetling and I could end up together in the Garden. I've got to hold on to that thought.

Hey ElDave,

All I can say is that you are the "greatest" no matter what! you are such a kind natured person in general and everything else outside of that will no doubt fall into place!

I was going to send you a judgemental message but my computer doesn't have enough memory   lol

I notice you're quoting Roy Orbison "in dreams ...."

Satan doesn't rule.  Believers say God cast him out of Heaven, he used to be the angel, Lucifer, till he got too ambitious and God kicked him out of Heaven.  Do you watch South Park?  The movie has a bit in it about Satan and Saddam having a "relationship".

You don't get any judement from Canada because we're too busy planning our takeover of the USA  = )
We're going to roast moose-dogs over the burning White House and change Abe Lincoln's face into Wayne Gretsky.  I can hear all the booing and hissing at my anti-American rhetoric  lol  Your Icepick and My Icepick are going to control the country.  Anakin is just going to roll around in the grass and the dogs are the new NSA.  You and Sweetling can have the el_dave room; her kids can have any room they want; her "husband" can have the underground tunnels - his relatives are down there, you know - the rats.

If Ireland wants to join in, they are more than welcome.

Till Armageddon lo shalom lo shalom/then the father hen will call his chickens home/the wise men will bow down before the throne/And at his feet they'll cast a golden crown .... When the Man Comes Around

Regarding your present Sweetling situation - she'll be back   = )

All you need to know is that Jesus Chirst is God, he is real, and that will make you wanna get up in the morning...and satan does rule the earth, when satan was cast  out of heaven he was given the world to rule

Sunset, your seeing me as 'the greatest" is only a reflection. Sharing your musical Irish voice (rather sultry, you know.. but I'll leave telling you those things to your husband) with me when I'm down seems to be true kindness. As soon as the winning numbers come in, I'm flying straight to Ireland!

Wolfie, you can judge me. Your judgement I'll accept. When I say Satan rules this system of things I'm merely quoting my JW friends. Looking to Washington, though, it does seem that there's a lot of evidence of it... you guys come on down and take over any time you feel like it. Being ruled by the likes of you and Sharon really gets my imagination fired up. Will you ladies be taking turns? No, don't answer that, that can be taken in too many ways, and of course I meant it in the naughtiest way imaginable. I have a reputation to uphold! Oh, yes, Sweetling is back, big time. We have a date tomorrow. Yummy doodle noodle strudel, lil' tykes like me do love our sweet candy.

Sparkel, yes, surely the devil is in control. Just look around at what's accepted, and even admired. Unfortunately, Jesus doesn't make me want to get up in the morning. I lack your faith, though the idea is nice. Even lacking faith, though, I've studied religions, and so far only one has made sense, and has not attributed man-like qualities to their God. No petty vindicativeness, no malice, no insecurity. That's the Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm not one, but I repect them immensely. I'm especially impressed by their ability to say "I don't know".

                               MY OMNIPRESENT THRONE

I came down from my omnipresent throne of love in the bosom of space and in the hearts of twinkling lights
to find a cozy place in the heart of man. I stayed there long, shut out of my large, large, home.
I was everywhere; then I hid myself away in small places. Now I come out of my hiding places.
I open the gates of the human limitations of family, caste, color, and creed. I am racing everywhere
to feel again my consciousness of omnipresence.

I am the Light that is above them all,
I am the All, the All came forth from
Me and the All attained to Me. Cleave
a piece of wood, I am there; lift up the
stone and you will find Me there.

                            Gospel according to Thomas

satan DOES NOT RULE THE WORLD. GOD DOES!!!
FOR HE CREATED IT!!! satan is nothing but a thorn
waiting to be plucked out by GOD.

                                                                                                  your friend and brother

sparkel is correct in that according to the Bible Satan is being allowed to rule the earth right now but to an extent. God is still in control and even has control over what Satan is allowed to do. He is allowed to test people, tempt people and yes, even attack people. But God's people are protected. Satan can only do to us what we allow him to do. This is only for a short time until Christ comes back (which after looking around at how bad our earth has gotten, I'd say He's probably coming back sooner rather than later).
I find it interesting that you do believe in the devil but you say that you don't really have any faith. I've seen some of your posts. You do have a lot of curiosity and questions. If I didn't know better, I'd say God's been pulling on your heart strings for some time! I think He's calling your name, el_dave.
Respectfully,
April

Very soon now, very soon, and my sort can only pray that Jehovah does indeed look into our hearts when weighing our actions. If not, I'm a goner! No, I can't intellectually justify a belief in the existence of God. Nor can I justify belief that God does not exist. So it comes down to a decision of whether to try to live as though there were or as though there weren't. I do try to live as though there were, to the best of my ability. Unfortunately, I'm not very able. My sins are based on love, though, so Jehovah may be merciful even to me. I can only hope so.

Anyway, when Satan's lease runs out Jehovah's going to revamp this ol' slum we call earth, and that can't be anything but good. He will have made His point, as He intended, and there will be no more need for nor desire for evil. It's my hope that at that time my wife and Baby Doll and I can live happily in the Garden. But I'm sure asking for an awful lot of mercy!

Thank you. Ma'am.

I will never understand how Satan can rule against the Almighty who cast him (Lucifer/Satan) out of heaven.  Nor do I see Satan as a red guy, with horns and a pitchfork.  If Satan = evil then my perception of him or it is different from the JWs.  If evil was easy to identify, we'd have an easier time.  Evil is NOT easy to identify.  Part of the power of evil or Satan is that so many believe it doesn't exist.  Why does God allow this?  I have no idea.

Recently, a JW was talking to my daughter and I.  She was friendly, not pushy, liked dogs and gave us a flyer about a weekly BBQ and their involvement in helping us here in the ghetto.  She spoke about being guaranteed a place in Heaven if we accepted Christ.  I'm sorry but I cannot believe that God would only let certain people into Heaven (hope there is such a place) based only on their religious beliefs.  I asked this woman what happened to those who practiced Islam, worshipped Allah and Mohammed?  No answer.  I guess we know where they're going - downstairs.  This is not the God I know - the loving, caring and forgiving one who sees the smallest sparrow fall from a tree and cares ALL His children, human and non-human.  The God who cares about us so much that He forgives us before we can even form the words in our heads to ask for forgiveness.

I try to respect all beliefs.  But my perception of the Almighty is closer to Jimi's.  You can find God anywhere, even under a rock.

There's an interesting book "Wolves Among Sheep".  It's a Canadian book but it's worth reading.   I've read it about four times.

Wolfie, it's very odd that your JWs and our JWs say such different things. Your JWs are saying what around here those known as "Baptists" say. Our JWs don't presume to judge, and according to them even one such as I may be allowed into the Garden. According to them, Jehovah isn't some vindictive man-like being that provides hell.. it's paradise or nothing. Those who can't be part of Paradise don't suffer, they simply cease to be. I'm sure I'd be one of those, but my Witness friends say Jehovah sees into my heart when I "sin". The particular Witnesses who come out here to discuss their (and my) philosophy would never say the things you've attributed to your JWs above, and in fact would vehemently argue against the concept of being allowed into heaven by accepting Christ. Being guaranteed a spot in the Garden by *mitating* Christ to the best of your ability, now, that's something else. I've told our local JWs about some of the things you've said about yours, and they just sadly shake their heads. I'd not want anything to do with a God who was nothing more than a powerful man, and neither would they. If you ask my JWs what happens to those that practice other beliefs, they'll tell you: same as everyone else. It's what you do, not what you say, and it's the reasons for doing what you do. A man could give $1000 per day to Kingdom Hall and still not qualify for the Garden, if his reasons for giving it weren't right. The people you're describing aren't the people I'm describing by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe the JWs here are different from the ones in the USA.  Or maybe the person we spoke to was not a JW although she sounded like she spoke the "party line".

Native people have no concept of sin.  We know what it is, we just don't believe in it.  It's difficult to reconcile being a Native person with more organized religion but ultimately, I think, we all end up in the same place.  Natives do not believe in He** but do believe in evil and in God or one the numerous names He/She goes by.  That's partly why I can't imagine a wrathful, vengeful God, just a caring and forgiving one.

We all have our beliefs or non-beliefs and I know I can't say one is better than the other - or worse.  I do wonder why the Apocalypse has been prophesized so many times but hasn't actually happened.  Maybe God's version of time is different from ours, just like a fruitfly's experience of time is different from ours.

How profound  lol

Hugs to you ....

Oh, and also, Wolfie, the JWs here can explain why God "allows" Satan to influence us. They can also explain how as well as why it is that Satan rules this system of things. I'm not sufficiently studied to express it with any clarity, but in essence, Jehovah isn't pushy. Mankind chose to listen to Satan instead of Jehovah. Satan was kind of like a factory manager who decided to take over the factory from it's owner, telling mankind "we're doing all the work, we can make decisions about how to run the place better than the factory owner (or creator) can". Man chose to follow the devil, and Jehovah permits man to learn the hard way if that's what we insist on. In the end, those that are able to see the truth and accept our own inability to rule ourselves ("the meek", or the teachable, IOW) will be those who populate Paradise. I think what we've done with the world makes a pretty powerful argument for the JWs. Hitler was elected. Bush was elected. Need I say more? The JWs (at least ours) are the most open minded folks I've ever met. Beverly and Hilda and I were planting flowers and shrubs outside Kingdom Hall this afternoon and evening, and I asked Bev if she could see any difference between these folks around us and a hippie commune, and she said "they all have clothes on, and there's no pot. Otherwise it's the same." The hippie movement sold itself out, though, and the Witnesses aren't about to. Since I fully intended to take H and B out to dinner, then bring them back and ply them with wine and then see what sort of naughty mischief I could get them up to, I'm not and never could be a Witness. However, my respect for them is immeasurable, and if you listen to a REAL one with an open mind you'll probably agree with me that whether you can subscribe to their beliefs or not, they have the most respectable and believable vision of God there is. This comes from a dirty commie pinko too, my dear friend. I hope you do meet some real ones one day, they're truly fascinating. The words "the loving, caring and forgiving one who sees the smallest sparrow fall from a tree and cares ALL His children, human and non-human.  The God who cares about us so much that He forgives us before we can even form the words in our heads to ask for forgiveness" and "You can find God anywhere, even under a rock" would be defended vigorously by the JWs I deal with. I don't know who that person was that your daugher and you were talking to, but according to Everett and Marianne that was no Jehovah's Witness.

Oh, wow, another thing! "Maybe God's version of time is different from ours, just like a fruitfly's experience of time is different from ours." is no maybe to a JW. It's precise fact. However, they do give pretty convincing evidence that even reckoned by our standards, the time is near. It could even come as I type thi

Glad you enjoy your JW friends and their beliefs.
