I was diagnosed with fibro in June 2007. Last week I was diagnosed with cervical DDD and is scheduled to see a neurosurgeon on July 29.  Right now, I have pain in my jaw, right ear, bottom right side to front of gums, and neck. I also have pain in my right shoulder and right arm. Most of the time I have pain in my right buttock, back, both legs and toes. I have missed many days from work because of my illness and the debilitating tiredness. I wonder whether I will be able to continue to work. I feel that I am not doing my share. And coworkers let me know each time I return to work after a flare up. This makes me feel sad and worried. I feel like nobody believes me when I say that I hurt so badly -- not to mention the foggy feeling. My husband tries to comfort me at times; then at other times, even though he does not express it orally, he shows impatience. He hardly understands how I can feel horrible with pain most of the time, but sometimes without changes in therapy, I do feel ok. My drug therapy includes cymbalta, ultram, skelexin, percocet, cardizem, and benecar. Has anyone with my symptons been diagnosed  similarly? If so, do you ever get long term relief? I try to accept my lot in life, but this is very new and very daunting for me. Sometimes I feel sad. Thank you all in advance for caring.

hi my name is pam and i have DDD as well and i am 34. i have also many disc bulges in the neck and back. i am the one who posted "hand and arm pain so severe i want to die". i know how bad the pain can be as i am enduring it right now. i am on lyrica and percocet and all that does is make me loopy. i have like stingy, numbness, stiffness, severe pain in both hands and arms. most days i can't close my hands at all. my significant other, boyfriend, is much like your husband but more so with the impatience part. i try to do what i can but when your in extreme pain you are limited. i feel as tho nobody will ever understand or believe me the amount of pain i am in. they say they understand but they really don't, not to me that is. what is skelexin, cardizem and benecar? does that help? i ask because my stuff barely does. i've been dealing with this for 5yrs. and still hoping to find some real help from a real, caring specialist who won't just blow me off as "crazy." i am sad every day, only because of the pain. i hope you really find the relief you seek, and i hope your pain subsides soon. i will say a prayer for you, and keep you in my prayers. by the way is the pain in the areas of your body from the DDD or fibro?

Ooops I didn't get it right the first time
It's amazing to know there are others out there with such similar stories to mine. I have been diagnosed for years with FMS, depression (of course) cervical and lower spine problems, degenerative arthritis, persistent Lyme disease and insomnia. Chronic pain was taking over my life to the point that I was beginning to think it wasn't worth living.

I have seen many doctors. I take Cymbalta, Lyrica, and a bunch of other pain RX s. (I quit Ambien because I was getting up eating and roaming the house but wouldn't remember doing it the next day or have only a dream-like partial memory).

I also had a terrible time with teeth. Four years ago I had two dental implants. One became infected. It had to be removed surgically. The gum tissue and bone continued to recede I developed amalgam tattoo purple bruised looking gums. I underwent bone and tissue grafts. I wore temporary "flippers" a retainer type appliance with a plastic tooth to fill the gaps. They broke, were annoying, and my dog ate one. I had several more rounds of antibiotics. All of this was very costly and my credit debt was getting out of control.
Finally, I was in despair and wanted the remaining teeth pulled.

I also was having excruciating neck pain. My internist sent me to a chiropractor who is trained in the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic technique. He also referred me to a dentist who practices biological dentistry based on the knowledge that dental and oral conditions can be understood only in relation to the whole body. Not only did he perform a five hour surgery on me, a dental phobic, on six front teeth with nothing but local anesthetic, he adjusted my bite. For the first time in four years my mouth and jaw are not hurting.

It’s been a long road but I feel better than I have in ten years. Don’t give up. I feel like I now have a team of health practitioners who share info at my request. They don’t just treat a pain or one part of my body. I now have a team of health practitioners who an understanding that our bodies are not just an assembly of parts like a car. Every organ, cell and experience we have affects our whole selves.
