I don't know if this is very helpful or not but I read somewhere that when we are craving salt we really are needing to drink because we're dehydrated. I don't know if that's the case with you but just thought I'd pass that along in case you hadn't heard that.
Bless your day! :)

I still crave salt too Amy. I don't know why either. Someone suggested I needed testing for something, but I can't remember what for. Google salt craving, that might get it.

Hi there. Well actually I do drink a lot of fluids. It never hurts to ask though. I think with me it is more of a low iron or thyroid thing. I have a habit of craving something crunchy and salty. Carrots and celery were just not cutting it so I cheated and bought some chips. I knew I should not have; but, boy were they good! hee hee hee. Now my body will make me pay for it though. LOL. I see your sister-in-law is in the hospital. I hope all goes well for her. Thank you for the comment and the blessing.

Kim, hi. I think we crossed on our post. I think it's mainly related to the thyroid; but, I'm not sure.. For me with edema and high BP meds I should not really have it. It's just some day's I feel like I could lick a salt block, OR EAT IT. LOL ha ha ha ha. I'm not sure if it's a no no with the thyroid or not.
Your going to have to tell me about your vacation though. And I really hope you get an answer on that crazy swelling. Maybe even try on the other sites. Take care my friend.

Craving salt is a sure sign of adrenal exhaustion. It is very difficult to get MD to acknowledge this condition. The most accurate way to test for this is the Saliva test. These can be ordered off the internet from various labs. Bellvue lab, is one, Canary ??? can't think of the rest of the name. I am sure there are others.
I take an adrenal support formula. Also celtic sea salt is something else you might want to research for this.

WOW Hi and Thanks so much Peggy. Do you know what causes this adrenal exhaustion? Do you crave it too? Where you tested? How are you doing with your sleep? God bless and take care. Will be looking for your post. Thanks so much. Your friend; Amy
