I'm going to see another GP...what tests should I have them order?

Jul 18, 2008 03:55PM - 2 comments

I have a doctor's appointment on Monday...any thoughts on what I should..."coerce"...her into testing me for?

5/8/08
TSH: 4.05 (0.4 - 4.0)

5/16/08
TSH: 5.45 (0.4 - 4.0)
Free T4: 1.3 (0.8 - 1.9)

6/19/08
TSH: 1.58 (0.4 - 4.5)
T4: 7.2 (4.5 - 12.5)
Ultrasound: Right lobe measures 4.8 x 1.3 x 1.6cm; left lobe measures 4.6 x 1.1 x 1.4 cm. The thyroid parenchyma is slightly heterogeneous, however no discrete nodules are identified. The isthmus is unremarkable.
--> Check out the pictures under my photos, if you're interested...there are some interesting comments, especially by 898, which suggest that some interesting things might've been missed by the radiologist (there were a lot of pictures).

6/30/08
LDL cholesterol: 133 (< 130)
No thyroid tests done

7/2/08
TSH: 2.77
TGAb: < 20 (< 20)
TPOAb: < 10 ( Check out the pictures under my photos, if you're interested...to me, it looks like my right lobe is brighter than the left lobe, even though this wasn't noted by the radiologist, and my doctor who interpreted the results said that my thyroid had evidence of inflammation.

At this point, my last doctor told me she doesn't know what I have, but guessed that it was potentially thyroiditis even though she initially thought I was going hypothyroid. Thyroiditis, I'm told, would decrease my RAI uptake, though, when mine was, in fact, increased.

When I go to another GP, what tests should I have them order? I want to get some consistent bloodwork, and I'm willing to have it done weekly if need be...but I can't go on for another few months (or longer) feeling like this. Any input would be much appreciated! I can't get to an endo until September or October around here.

BTW, the blue circle on the ultrasound is the "crossection"  of the vein (normal); the ultrasound probe was tilted to the side causing distortion.

That's good to know! I haven't had any other doctors take a look at my US or RAIU scan results...I'm waiting until I can get to an endocrinologist. :-/
