Three years ago I reacted badly to kiwi fruit, something I had eaten often throughout my forty seven years! The attack lasted for two weeks even after two full courses of Corticosteroids and antihistamines. Last Friday I tried a new diet crispbread with pumpkin seed on. Within ten minutes my throat felt like I had something stuck in it, but I have acid reflux so put it down to that. The following morning I had developed hives around my genitalia and anus, which I realised was an allergic reaction. Sunday morning the hives were larger and covered the whole of my trunk area, spreading out to my arms. i rang our telephone service which advised me to go to the A&E at our local hospital where within a minute of my arrival I was in a side room and having a cannula fitted for Piriton and Saline as well as bloods. I was monitored for two hours and the sent home with a box of Corticosteroids (Prednisilone) 6 per day and advice to see my GP this week. I will ring in the morning as today was a Bank Holiday for Easter.
Today I woke with swollen lips and hives driving me mad all up my legs, face and arms, the trunk having lessened in severity. After taking the steroid tablets the itching wore off until around mid-afternoon, but boy is it itching again now?!!! The Photo's are the reaction yesterday.
