Lumpectomy / Breast Biopsy

Jul 23, 2008 12:26PM - 4 comments

Met with a surgeon today and I did not have to tell him I wanted it out.  He said that over a centimeter, they usually suggest removal and biopsy, so that is what I am going to do.

I have a surgery date of 7/31/08, don't know what time yet.

He said given my family history of cancer (Dad - Lung, 2 Great Aunts - Breast) it was a wise choice.

I am feeling ok about it since I wanted them to remove it anyway.  My mom is coming in to be with me on that day, which I am thankful for.

I THINK THIS IS VERY BENIGN - I just have to be sure.

Kim, Glad to hear that it is going to be removed and biopsied for you.  I was sorta questioning the size.  I bet it is a big burden off of your shoulders of wondering with the "what if's".  I have faith that it will all go fine and be benign for you.  I'm also glad your mother will be there for you that day.  Keep us posted on the results.  : )

YEAH!!!!!  Remember...no big deal!  The secret to no pain is to put ice packs on your boob as soon as you get home and do it for about 3 days and nights. Just keep rotating them out as needed. I didn't need to take anything harsh....I took tylenol with codeine for maybe 2 days each time (if that)  and that was it! The ice trick works!
Get the real nice gel ice packs as they are soft and will conform to your boob. lol  Funny conversation huh?!
HUGS!
