Nesting?

Jul 25, 2008 07:17AM - 3 comments

I thingk my my nesting officially started last night at about 10pm when i started ruthlessly scrubbing and cleaning out our kitchen cupboards (wonderful housemates move out and leave all their PERISHABLE food). Not such a good idea because all the activity (bending over ect) gave me terrible heart burn before bed. But did i learn? No i woke up today and made simon help me go through our entire room throwing out enough to fill the empty garbage bin and a huge storage container we have too. We are also doing all the clothes washiong we have been putting off (4 or 5 loads). Beautiful timing considering it has been raining all day and we dont have a dryer so off to the laundry mat for us.
I finished (all except the washing) at about 4 pm today and slept for two hours straight (which i usually cant even manage during the night).
My heart burn is terrible today again. I just wish when i actually had energy to clean my body would agree with me.

Despite all this effort my house still looks ****. We have 4 bedrooms. Mine and Simon's (master) a tiny nursery room, my housemates and what will now be used as a spare bujt is still full of furniture from my friend who moved out a MONTH ago. Its so annoying because we have a lot of things we want to store away in there (including a single bed that currently lives in our dining room!!!!) and she is no longer paying rent so doesnt deserve the space. She also has two DISGUSTING old couches that she left out in the rain that i know she wont come and get. She offered them to me and i was like "um NO take them away". It should not be my problem to dispose of her furniture. We told her not to bring it in the first place because the house is furnished and she insisted.
So now we have all this extra **** floating around and i only have about 3 weeks till i
(hopefully) go leave for NSW to have the baby to clean up and get ready. If she wasnt such a good friend i would just put it outside. It doesnt even seem like she wants any of it (she has moved in with her rich boyfriend and her stuff wouldt 'fit' there) and i think if i am rude to her she might say WE can just get rid of it. This would cost a lot of money and effort considering i am only getting bigger and we dont have a truck, trailer or even a car compatible with a trailer nor a junk yard anywhwere close as we live in the heart of the city.

Its just so unfair that we are burdened with this so close to the birth...

May I offer a suggestion about the left over furniture?  Do you have a Salvation Army anywhere in your city?  If you call them, they will come take the furniture.  Some garbage company's will even have a special day per month, that they come pick up large items and dispose of them.  Perhaps a couple of guys could drag the stuff to the curb, if you have a garbage collection during the month.

When we women get the "urge to nest," everything has to be just so.  It's amazing sometimes, how much energy we have in the last months.  For me, I was on my hand's and knee's scrubbing floors one day before I gave birth.  I wanted things spotless, just like you do.  I just told my husband to get out of my way, cause I was coming through.

Happy nesting sweetheart and do check out the available options about that left over furniture.  Shame on "your friend" for leaving it there for YOU to deal with, knowing how close you are to delivery.  Shame, Shame.

Happy Baby and an easy delivery,
Heather
