Blood

Some women spot and/or cramp when they ovulate (approx 10 days after start of last period).

Some women spot right before thier period (due the build up of blood in the uterine lining and the cervix preparing for menstration).

Both are completly normal.

Spotting is also common during the first couple months of pregnancy at your normal time of menstration.

If you are pregnant and your spotting is more than just a little bit of light pink, I would see your OBGYN just to be safe.

i  have been spotting between periods for about 2 yrs. i've switched birth control pills 3 x's. still on birthcontol pills. i am married 15 yrs.i been to 3 doctors also, one put me on a thyrod med, mine is slightly low;but it didn't change the spotting. i will wipe and it will be bright red blood then just brownish for a day or two. sometimes i have blood after sex. there doesn't seem to be a patern "when", it seems to be any time, most of the month. my scheduled period lasts about 3-4 days ,mostly brownish and light. i recently got essure done so in august i will stop taking birth control pills . any suggestions?? i'm tired of runing my undies, not feeling sexy, and bleeding is gross!!!  thks     pttgllghr@gmail.com

I know how you feel. Birth control can really mess up your cycles, especially if the dose isn't quite right. When I was on the newer low-dose birth control, I spotted nearly constantly. I never seemed to have that problem when I was on good old Ortho Tri Cyclin (back in the 90's) Unfortunatly for me, the spotting continued after I stopped the pill. I would talk to your doc about a higher level of hormones in your birth control pills. Good luck, and I apologize for not answering sooner.
