i hear you,

i was in pain for 5 years with a lower back injury, im better now thanks to good chiropractic care, but i did become dependant on pain pills, and quitting was no joke! my advice to you is take some time off work, lay down and stay down for as long as you can, if you can get the weight off the disk it can re-absorb itself. takes time tho.

i have a good friend that had surgery for his back pain, he is now in a wheel chair.

I understand what your going through, I had a back injury at work in 03. My doc kept telling me it would go away,
it never did i to have a bulging disc L5 S1 that has turned into degenetive disc desease along with facet arthropathy.
Now i'm unable to work but i was just put on tramadol and it seems to help alot more than any other pain meds.
Thats another thing the docs wwill keep on giving meds, i'm also on vesicare i to started the urinary frequency at night. Hope all goes well for you.GOD BLESS YOU!!

Hello

Having bulging discs L4 and L5 does cause pain. It's soft tissue damage. MRI's are good at finding soft tissue damage but do not address neurological issues involved with traumatic injuries. Due to symptoms you've mentioned you may need a neurologist. Most disc injuries involve inflammation (swelling) that can compress spinal nerves as well as cause the sciatica (pain that shoots down the leg) you described. Usually anti inflammatory medicines are given along with pain medicnes. If that doesn't work then corticosteroids are used. Sounds like you need to find some new MD's who will listen to you and keep track of symptoms and progress. If inflammation is the main cause of current symptoms and pain, getting it under control is 1st priority. Then you will be able to go into physical therapy with success.  Hope you find a better place to go for treatment. I do think your back problems and related neuro symptoms are the result of inflammation. However I can't see the injury or x-rays, MRI's etc. Had a similar issue (dessicated discs L1-S-3 along w/tumor on L2, a year of corticosteroids and being very mellow, no impact sports etc, and it repaired itself, amazing!  physical therapy, massage and exercise are working great.

I was lifting buckets at work and i felt a jolt in my lower back...3 months later My MRI shows the l5-l4 and l5-s1disc are bulging, I have been to 4 different Doctors and they all have been saying the same thing "there is nothing really wrong with you the pain will go away" sometimes I can not even get out of bed I am 31 years old and have to walk like a old man from all the pain. By the way I am a mailman and I need to push a 50 to 60 pound cart and I bend to deliver mail floor (door slots) I have never been hurt before but it is like no big thing to all the Doctors. I am doing PT but the pain is either bad or REALLY bad what should I do?

Did you get injured @ work? If so let the insurance take care of everything & if so do not  wait 2 late!! let them know that it hurtd really bad and that you can barely walk or get out of the bed! and that you need time off to heal or see what they want 2 do next!!!

I was at work when this happened. Workmens comp has been taking care of some things but my case is still open. I am going on 2 months with out a pay check. I think they are trying to force me back before i am ready. But my MRI shows 2 disc and when i seat my right leg comes numb. so if tell my doctor this and they force me back before i am ready and i am driving and hit someone from behind it is my fault?

First off I cannot wait to get back to work. I love my job as a mailman. I love the feel of the sun on my face and the wind at my back it is second to no other job. I just got off the phone with workmans comp and was told I am fine, 2 disc are nothing. But I have no history of a back injury or back pain ever. Now i need pain killers and can barely walk sometimes what can i do?

i would say dont use them but who am i fooling! just dont become addictive to em! im a wittness 2 that you know what you should try? a chiropracter it works trust me they bend and twist and pop ur back 2 relieve pressure from around the disc that are bulging out. i dont think you need surgery at this time! but you will have 2 deal with this back problem 4 the rest of ur life once they go out they go out! im here if you need me i will keep you in prayer God bless!!
