I feel that it's a doctor's duty to run the appropriate tests necessary prior to surgical implant of a hip or knee, to determine the type of prosthesis needed for each individual patient. It should not be left up to the patient to determine which metals/prosthesis, they are allergic to.

I believe that there must be certain Labs/blood work-up, that a doctor can run to determine if a titanium implant is the right way to go; prior to surgery. Also, you need to know that having a total knee replacement, is by far the worst pain that you can endure. As for the 2-3 month or 1 year recovery time, I feel is wrong. People that have had a TKR, know exactly what I'm speaking of. It takes a toll on your entire body....
