So I've got two ulcers. A pretty big one at the bottom of my stomach, and a smaller one just inside my intestines. The pain I feel from these internal holes is immense...the most pain I've ever felt in my entire life from anything. They are non responsive to the healing medications. I was on Protonix for about a year, and it didn't help at all towards the end. The doctor's then decided to take it to some prehistoric treatment with Sucralfate. My primary doc called Sucralfate a band aid, in that it covers the pain, but doesn't treat the problem. The problem I'm having now is that it doesn't so much cover the pain as much as it used to.
Last week I had my second EGD. (The first was in September 2007.) The doctor was visibly surprised after I came out of sedation by how large my ulcers were. They were both bleeding, he cauterized the larger one...which did not stop the bleeding, and put a clamp on the smaller one.
On Tuesday the 19th at 1pm I meet with my tummy surgeon in his office, to discuss surgery options.
In the mean time I've been taking berry flavored Maalox Advanced by the gulp full to numb the pain and make it so I can eat, only it makes me feel full, so I don't eat a lot. Haha.
