Skin Cancer Surgery

After all this with Fay, had to go to get the skin cancer taken off my forehead this morning.  Doctor kept asking me if I wanted to see a plastic surgeon (not on site) and said that it would definitely leave a scar, but the plastic surgeon would probably leave one too. It is just too hard in the middle of my forehead.  Anyway, we decided to just get it done today. I know this will sound stupid to some people, but I am done with doctors. I have been to so many this past year. I will just cut my hair into bangs if the scar is bad enough! So I let him do it.  My eyes are a little swollen and I have a huge headache but other than that ok.  

We just got walloped by Fay.  My yard is completely flooded but not the house, thank goodness. Although I do have a leak in my roof and I do have some water on my carpet.  We had 3 trees come down.  Two took out the back fence (thank God not the house) and one is across my driveway, blocking me from getting out of my garage.  Luckily, about 30 minutes before it went down, Jerry moved his truck to the street so that he could take me to my appt.  The tree fell exactly where his truck had stood!  It would have been crushed, so we are lucky.

Colleen, what a day you've had!  I hope you recover from your skin cancer surgery very quickly.  Yes, you've definitely had enough of doctors for a while!  What luck with Fay!  I'm amazed it is still causing heartache in Florida!  Rest and take it easy sweetie!

thanks Trudie! I took off the bandages last night because I had such a headache.  Sort of wish I hadn't lol.  I look like I could be married to Frankenstein with the stitches across my forehead. Those are in a for a week. It is still swollen too, but that will go down.  But the cancer is gone and that is the best thing!

Woke up to sunshine this morning, the first day in a week, so glad of it :)

So now I bet your glad that Jerry decided to take the day off !! It sounds like you almost didn't make it to the surgery, but I'm glad you did. I had to laugh when you said you just told this doctor to do it and not wait for the plastic surgeon. I can so relate to being in doctor burnout, and I'm still no where near finished yet myself.
What was the diagnosis? Did they freeze or scrap it off? The swelling and redness will go away soon, don't worry about being the "bride of Frankenstein".  When do you have to go get the stitches out?
I'm glad the sun finally came out down there and you escaped Fay with just some minor damage. Who has to cut the tree out of the driveway, or should I just assume Jerry has his work cut out for him this weekend.
Try some ice packs on the head for the pain as long as you don't get it wet, it should help with the swelling too.
I'm going to attempt to hobble out this weekend and try to visit my Dad, I haven't seen him for a while and I want to just drop by for a little visit at least. I got a new lady to help me this week, she's very nice and seems to be more responsible, so time will tell. We went shopping yesterday as I thought I felt a little better but by the time we were almost finished I wasn't doing to good, came home and just got back to bed. It really gets frustrating when I want to try to accomplish so much and can get so little done by myself, I hope it calms down before the surgery gets here. I still haven't heard from the doctor with the new date yet, and under the circumstances it's probably a good thing. I think next spring I'm going to look into having a pain pump or stimulator put in, I chose not to a while back due to the complications that can happen, but I need to get a better level of functioning back before I'm too old to care.
It's been a lot cooler here at night this week, in the 50's so I was finally able to give the ac a rest. I wonder if we'll get the remnants of Fay this week, we usually get heavy rains and winds within a week of hurricanes in the south, I guess they make they're way up the coastline.

HI Val,
You must have been typing this as I was typing you a message, so you will get all the info on your personal message (about the surgery).  Freezing or scraping it off would have been nicer.  They cut it out!  I go back Friday for the stitches removal. Then I will just be Scarface and not the Bride of Franky anymore, lol.  I have two other spots that they froze off of my face. I am a piece of work right now, let me tell you!

Poor Jerry, he spent all day yesterday cutting the tree and removing it.  Today he is coming over to cut down two other dead ones before they fall. He works so hard on my house and yard, he is such a good man.

Glad you are getting a chance to visit with your dad. That will be nice. and finally a good woman for some help for you. I hope she lasts.  I agree with you. I don't know about the pain pump and complications, but I feel for you and for the level of frustration that you must have daily. One thing at a time,huh? First the surgery, then go from there. That is how I have had to look at all my doctor appts. Now this is done, on to the pulmonologist in Sept, lol.

50's at night would be wonderful - yeah!  yes, many hurricanes that go up the East coast bring rain to where you are. This one came back over Florida and is going west before turning north. Probably bring rain to Tennessee, Kentucky, etc.
