Made it to Texas

Aug 24, 2008 08:17PM - 1 comments

I made it to Texas yesterday at about 5pm.  The trip went well, except that before I even got twenty miles out of town this lady ran a red light and slammed into my mini van (I had been stopped in a turning lane and then was turning left on a green arrow at the time).  I called the police and when they got there she first tried to tell them she had a green arrow to turn right.  There was no green arrow even ON her light.  So then she told them that OK, her light WAS red, but she was sure that the law said that she had the right of way to turn right on a red light (it's my thought that she would have been better off to have just picked a story and stuck to it - at least then she could have claimed she made a mistake - this way it was obvious she was lying).  She got a ticket.  I am hoping that her insurance is valid because this will be the third accident where someone else has hit me where I wasn't at fault and the other two didn't have valid insurance.  And I have a $1000 deductible.  I still haven't been able to get my car fixed from the last person who rear ended me.  So annoying.  You kind of look at your car a little differently when it has big old dents in it - and now both of my cars are damaged.  But it at least its driveable, so I was still able to come see my family, and that's the important thing.

I am going to stay here for a couple of weeks I think, so it will be nice to be able to see my family and my son for that long.  Kind of relaxing too not to have a specific itinerary (not that I have a HUGE intinerary at home or anything) and just be able to relax every day.
