On Saturday just gone, we were shopping in the middle of Myer and Seth "stepped on his ankle funny" and promptly sat down.
We called in first aid to check him, and he was bandaged and sent home. I made him rest for the weekend hoping that he would be all/nearly better for school on Monday.
Monday morning came and Seth was still refusing to step on the foot, so I rang the doctors surgery when it opened and scheduled an appointment.
I didn't want to keep Seth home from school unless it was necessary, (7yr olds limp very convincingly) but they didn't have an appointment until 3.15pm.
So Seth stayed home for the day, and instead of burning his energy moving around (like usual) he slowly drove his sister mad. (and in return, me)
We went to the doctor and got his foot checked out, but instead of telling me that he is a little melodramatic (like I wanted) and giving me a doctors note to get him off sport for a week or two, she sent us to get the foot x-rayed.
There were two possibilities-
A. The ligament around his ankle was torn.
B. The ligament attached to his ankle tore off taking a slither of bone with it.
So, tomorrow I have Seth at home again. At least until I have picked up the x-rays, and returned to the doctor at 11.15am.
In the meantime, Seth is now getting around much faster on some rented crutches.
I shudder to think of all the things that could go wrong when Seth takes those crutches to school...
