Going to the doctor again

Aug 27, 2008 12:26PM - 2 comments

I am going to the doctor again tomorrow. The process will probably go somewhat like this:
1. I will wait in the waiting room for 30 minutes gathering up courage to ask WHAT IS MATTER WITH ME! $*%@ !
2. I will weighed and escorted into the doctor's office where my blood pressure will be taken. I will lose my courage shortly.
3. The doctor will come in and freeze some stupid little warts on my big toe and not ask how my stomach is doing or anything. This will take about 4-5 minutes.
4. The doctor will get done freezing the warts and escape from the room before I have to bother him with something like "my stomach made me so miserable yesterday," or, "I just want to know what is wrong with me...give me an x-ray or something."
5. I will get my shoes on and go home dissapointed and a new symptom will start. :(
I also have to ask him about my chest pains. They are getting fewer and farther in between, but they still worry me.

Try not to get discouraged.  I have had the same problem with dr. visits.    Now, I write down (list-form) my most worrisome symptoms before I go into the office or sometimes right in the waiting room.  Then, when the doc walks in & asks me how everything is going I just hand him the list.  It seems to help them/force them to take time with me.  Since I have started doing this I walk out of the office much more satisfied & hopeful that my ailments will be taken care of.

That sounds like a good idea. Previously I have written down a list of my symptoms to describe to the doctor, because I had so many I would forget to mention some. I didn't give the list to him though. A list will make a bigger impact on the doctor because he will think "Huh, these symptoms must really be bothering him."
I don't have a lot of time in which to describe my symptoms, but with a list he can review them later when he has time.
It is encouraging to know that someone else with ulcers and gallbladder problems (which I think I have) has dealt with the same stuff from the doctor!
Thank you for your reply!
