Boy when the sh!t hits the fan.....

Well.... I just got a call from my RE (remember there is only 1 in this god forsaken state!) and he is currently being admitted to the hospital....as I was speaking with him on the phone to confirm our transfer appt time for this evening he was having an IV put in..... he is not sure what is wrong "he thinks he may need some sort of surgery".... and what does he say to me.....maybe my nurse can do the transfer....she has done some in the past......WTF!!!

I am so mad, so pissed, so angry, so spiteful.... we FINALLY get great looking embryos and this happens!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that absolutely stinks. i hope he is ok.  have you called the office and spoken to the nurse?  is there a back up dr (maybe a regular ob) who could supervise?

I am so sorry. Doesn't he have some sort of back up plan in case he can't make a transfer apt? Like alikat said, a OB or something?

I am a gambler, I may hedge the bet with the nurse. Lord knows most of the nurses I have seen are more competent than the docs they work with. I would have taken Peek delivering my kids over the nuts I had!

In all seriousness, what a crummy situation. I will be keeping my fingers crossed things work out for you.

No empathy at ALL for this man who called you while he was being prepped for surgery?

I've never had infertility issues,  so I don't really understand this issue fully,  but really,  some empathy for this man who called you in his dire hour would be a normal response.   I'm sorry,  your post just struck me as incredibly heartless.

I've never had those issues either but I agree with the above - try the nurse.  Often it's the nurse who makes the dr look good.

Hope you succeed  = )

Take a chance with the nurse.
I know you're upset but it's not like he intentionally planned this.   He's sick and needs surgery not taking a last minute luxury cruise.

I hear your frustration about the situation...it stinks REAL BAD!!!  I too would be upset, and I am sure that you are NOT upset at the doctor for being sick...just the situation in general, and perhaps a little apprehensive about having the nurse do the procedure (and a little sensitive about the Dr. even suggesting it!)   Feel free to vent...  I wish you well!  :)

Boy.  I'd have to know how experienced the nurse is at it.  Its probably beyond the scope of practice for an RN to do this, legally speaking.

But...if this was your only chance...how could you not try?

Oh, it is certainly beyond their scope without a doubt. But if this were the only option, if those embryos could not be preserved or their integrity would be compromised, I would not hesitate, What other option is there?

I only said to give the nurse a try because she was so irrate that this Dr had inconvenienced her.  Just figured it was better than nothing.
