Week #2

Week 2 in the books. Double yay! Doctors appt Monday, week 1 lab results kind of stressed me out. I guess the ongoing discussions on the HepC boards, people correlating how well the Ribavirin is working with drops in their hgb levels, got in my head. I know not everyone experiences anemia with these meds but because I only dropped a tenth of an IU (14.2 to 14.1) in my first week I start second guessing myself; am I eating enough; should I exercise; what about the f'in purines that lady keeps harping about? no biggy, I'll just spend more time on my knees praying and less time reading the message boards.

Unremarkable week though. Still somewhat itchy but it's under control. No apparent rash just small unnoticeable bumps that I think can be contributed to the Riba. Can't run or doing anything outside. That bums me out for sure. The new issue of Runner's World magazine came and I pitched it in the trash. I stare at the treadmill in my living room hoping to warm up to it. not so much, though.

wbc count is down so at least I know the interferon is working. For some reason I always get an infection in my upper sinuses when my white blood cell count is low. no itchy butt, no nausea, no serious side effects to date, still working. good spirits just cranky due to inactivity.

week 2...yellow poop (undetermined), mild itching (riba rash), heat & light averse (riba sx), sinus infection (low wbc/pegasys)

I too am in Week 2.  I have the same sx as you, nothing that I can not handle.  Yellow poop - me too - kind of freaked me out at first, but others have experienced that also.  Itchy - yes - I have been using benadryl and anti-itch lotion.  I have naseau though, but that is also controllable.  I was so scared going into this tx and so far so good.  Good luck to you.  We can make it!!

Sounds like you're doing great.  I know what you mean reading into all the forum tidbits and worrying about all the little stuff.  Just keep on doing what your doing, eating enough fat with the meds, drink lots of water, etc.  My Hgb didn't drop too low yet (16 - 12), but my ANC (360) tanked at week 8, so do keep an eye on that if you're prone to sinus infections.   Since you were very active, the Hgb might take a little longer to come down.     No comment on the yellow poop, lol.....   Best of luck.

i hope you don't try to push it....too much exercise might be trouble...my hgb was 14.5 now 8 something...i'm in bed most of the time...my 5 shot is sunday..my 4 week blood work is taken on mon....i lowered from 1200to 800 riba...my yellow poop seemed to be much less yellow after week 3...otherwise i have lots of sx but all are doable except the anemia...good luck and be careful...billy

I haven't even started to treat yet, but have no energy to get on my treadmill either. I would really like to be outside walking but the heat is just too much. At least I haven't started using the treadmill to hang clothes on lol. Not looking forward to treating and have been reading the forums and think I am scaring myself pretty bad. Sounds like you are hanging in there, I admire everyone who so far has started and their bravery...anne

Finishing up week 2. 1st week labs were all good. Platelets went from 147 to 126. Quite a drop but they said this was normal. Yellow poop yes burning yes tired, nauseated, and sick to death of eating all that fat but other than that..its all good. :) Good luck everyone.
