Alzheimer, genetics and exercise: 5 tips to prevent Alzheimer disease

Genetics and fate? How much genetics play in our future health? Can we escape from our genes? There is no question that lifestyle choices make a huge impact, more than we think. What is Alzheimer disease? Alzheimer it is by far the most devastating disease affecting our seniors and there are enormous implications for our families, our governments and our health practitioners. Why is Alzheimer disease so devastating? Because affects a really important structure of the brain, the hippocampus an area responsible for short term meory and learning. Think about this: If we can’t learn or memorize who are we? That is why we need to put all of our efforts and preventing and taking great care about our seniors suffering this disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is A progressive neurologic disease of the brain that leads to the irreversible loss of neurons and dementia. The clinical consequences of Alzheimer’s disease are progressive impairment in speech, memory, executive decisions, judgment, decision making, spatial perception, and language.

Regarding the importance of genetics in the development of Alzheimer disease ow there is not a clear conclusion on how Alzheimer’s develops genetically but the more we know about this devastating disease the more genetics play an important part. NEUROGENESIS AND THE BRAIN
On a side note I want to share a different approach with you. I have been researching and collaborating with different scientists, experts in the disease and my program just got awarded a grant for Parkinson disease.  Alzheimer’s affects a really important structure of the brain called the hippocampus, area responsible for short term memory. The latest studies are showing the aerobic activity can enhance and create new neurons in this specific section of the brain in a process called neurogenesis. CARDIOVASCULAR ACTIVITY CREATES NEW NEURONS IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS, ARE FOR LEARNING AND MEMORY

In other words in the case you are predisposed genetically your lifestyle clearly makes a huge impact in the delay for the disease. In addition cardiovascular activity should be in the top of your list and add some motor learning (complex movements) when you move. In other words the same way we can learn mentally you should activate and engage as many areas of the brain in a process called neuroplasticity like multitasking different body movements.
If you take care of your heart you will be reducing your risk for Alzheimer. So take care of your heart for a better chances of a great tomorrow!

On a last note don’t forget the impact of a healthy nutrition on your brain since more cases are reported showing a high correlation between cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s.

3.- Eating can influence your brain in a powerful way. Foods with high antioxidants, low fats, low sugars (apples, yogurt, berries salmon, walnuts, strawberries)

4.- keep yourself socially active and make sure you are surrounded by great friends:  you can join a book club, walking club or a gym. Staying socially active is really important.

5.- Practice daily meditation to make sure you achieve a powerful , calmer Mind and a more focused brain
