A couple weeks ago I went to the doctors to get a wart on my hand I had checked out. I also believed I had a UTI because it hurt when i peed and I was having some lower back pain. I have had one before and it felt the same. Anyway me and my mother are in the room and my doctor walks in, I tell her I think I have a UTI and she starts asking me all these very personal questions with my mom right beside me. She is asking about symptoms of my UTI and such and I answer everything truthfully. So she decides to say, "I don't think you have a urinary track infection, but since your sexually active there are a number of things it could be..." ect. She starts going on and on about it with my mom in the room. I look at her and I'm just like I know what I have, I've had it before, I don't have a STD I'm not out slutting around and my sexual partner has been tested before. She decides to let me pee in a cup just in case. Turns out, what do you know, I have a UTI, just like I said. The other day I go back to my doctor because I thought I had strep, or a cold, something like that. I had the chills the night before I was runnning a fever, and my lymph nodes on my throat were swollen. She swabs me and I test negative for strep. Once again, my mother is in the room with me, my doctor looks at my MOTHER and says, "Well she doesn't have strep, and I don't know how she is with oral if she uses protection while doing that or what but a possibilty could be Ghonerrhea of the throat." I'm sitting there stunned thinking really lady, again, I don't have a STD I am sick. She wouldn't prescribe me any medicine so I went home and took some of my old strep medicine, what do you know my throats all cleared up now and I feel perfectly fine.

Talk to your mom, tell her you want to change doctors. That or flat out tell your doctor that her comments are unneeded and it is not her place to say things like that.

I have Of course my mom is on the doctors side. I told her I'm not going there again. I wanted to say something to my doctor both times but my mother probably would have slapped me because what I would have said wouldn't of been very nice. I just thought it was rude of her!

It is, and she's a medical professional --- or supposed to be anyways. Be polite about it, just say that her comments are disrespectful and that you've been careful to protect yourself and know you are completely clean. If she says anything against that, just be firm and say that while you appreciate her obvious concern for your physical health, that doesn't involve why you're here and you would appreciate her to focus on what you feel is wrong, not what she wants to suspect.

You should feel comfortable with your medical provider. If you feel uncomfortable then you should switch to someone else.

Thank you for your inputs, If she does it again I will tell her I don't like it. I am most likely going to go somewhere else anyways, she makes me very uncomfortable.

I would like refuse to go back! Especially since she is not listening to you. I went to an Ob when i was preggers with my 3rd son and the nurse did not even know how to spell "abcess". I never went back. I switched back to my original Ob whom I only left because he is an hour away from my home. But the drive is well worth it.
Your doctor should listen to you and not jump to conclusions about things.
She should run tests and keep her personal opinions to herself...you should tell her that next time!! Good Luck
