We had an appointment with Dr. Khouw today. I think we can call this our first prenatal appointment. He did a pelvic exam and we sat and talked for a while. I am very happy that he's my doctor. He's patient and explains everything and makes sure you understand. Pretty much no question is stupid to him.
I got my flu shot...yay. I've been waiting to get one and I'm glad they took care of that today. We went over family history and all that good stuff. I also got a book that I can't wait to start reading. It's called Your Pregnancy & Birth, 4th Edition by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists. I already have What To Expect...and have pretty much finished it. I'm going to start this today.
He also changed the due date from May 19th back to May 14th. When he checked my pelvis, he said my uterus was the right size to be at 8 weeks. So he's going more by feeling than the ultrasound. He also suggested that I go see a maternity specialist at least once before my next appointment on November 2nd. I can talk to that specialist about any questions or concerns as far as genetic disorders go and he'll go over any and all tests that are available for us. I think he wants me to go because on Bryan's (DH) side, one of his cousins has a major disorder that's genetic. Even if there's a problem, we will still have the baby. No question. It'll just help us to prepare. God willing, everything will be great and we'll have a happy, healthy baby in our arms come May :)
Needless to say, it went very well. I'll be at around 13 weeks on my next appointment and we'll hear our baby's heartbeat!!!!!!
