Getting off the Oxy

I begin this journal on the day I joined MedHelp, Oct 10/08. Two days shy of our one year anniversary of our home being completely destroyed by fire.  

Also.........and maybe more importantly today is the 7th day of being clean of all opiate use.  Prior to that I was a user of opiates such as oxycodone, oxycontin, percs, & Tramacet.

I used these drugs to control pain due to a herniated disc (L5-S1) / stenosis which was operated on using the dynesys stabilization method on April 30/08.  Maybe the drugs were used for more than back pain!!??

The initial situation that led to my back problems are the direct result of an auto accident (hard rear end collision) on Sept14/1998.

I often wish I could speak to the guy that hit me, on a beautiful sunny day at 4:30pm.  How could he not have seen me stopped in a line of traffic at a red light!!  He hit me - just slammed into me, I am sure he didn't even hit the brakes.  He must have been distracted.  I saw his face in my rear view mirror just before the accident, I saw terror in his face and knew that he knew that he had made a big mistake.  

I would, for some reason, just like to let him know how big of a problem he actually did create on that beautiful Sept. day!!
