Dan Fogelberg - The Netherlands

Here is the part of the lyrics that has inspired me when I am faced with a challenge in life and it has gotten me through my thyroid surgery and full acceptance .. now I draw on it to lose my weight --

_______________

One road was simple
Acceptance of life
The other road offered sweet peace
When I made my decision
My vision became my release.
_______________

The entire song:  The Netherlands by Dan Fogelberg

High on this mountain
The clouds down below
I'm feeling so strong and alive
From this rocky perch
I'll continue to search
For the wind
And the snow
And the sky

I want a lover
I want some friends
And I want to live in the sun
And I want to do all the things that I
   never have done.

Sunny bright mornings
And pale moonlit nights
Keep me from feeling alone

Now, I'm learning to fly
And this freedom is like
Nothing that I've ever known

I've seen the bottom
And I've been on top
But mostly I've lived in between

And where do you go
When you get to the end of
   your dream?

Off in the nether lands
I heard a sound
Like the beating of heavenly wings
And deep in my brain
I can hear a refrain
Of my soul as she rises and sings

Anthems to glory and
Anthems to love and
Hymns filled with early delight
Like the songs that the darkness
Composes to worship the light.

Once in a vision
I came on some woods
And stood at a fork in the road
My choices were clear
Yet I froze with the fear
Of not knowing which way to go

One road was simple
Acceptance of life
The other road offered sweet peace
When I made my decision
My vision became my release.

WoWWW C~  There are verses in here that were so moving and very much spoke of the enlightenment that came with my journey.  Seems we can related on many levels and I can't thank you enough for sharing.

Now, I'm learning to fly
And this freedom is like
Nothing that I've ever known

Funny how life offers us the chance to meet such wonderful people and to participate in experiences we never dreamed of before ... and it was in our hands all the time.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a lovely post with all of us!

((Big ... can't let go huggg ... ))

Thought you might enjoy this as well ... Poem that was written in 1915 by Robert Frost.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the pass ing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost ------------------------ oh how I adore his poetry.  In 8th grade I bought a Robert Frost poetry book, and to this day I still have the book.  I think he is amazing ... and add to the list Khalil Gibran --- The Prophet -- he is equally amazing -- a philosopher close to my heart.  I have almost all his books on the shelf behind me  ....   C~
