Reaching my 2 1/2 year post tx point. Unbelievably, I am still recovering from tx. Only within the last few months has my stomach returned to normal. I had terrible upper gi problems from tx. These are completely gone although I am still on protonix. Blood pressure issues being treated by Norvasc. BP issues arose after tx as well.
My sex drive is OK as I am taking testosterone. Trying to get those numbers settled. Been on that for a year or so. I am not able to perform as well as I once did. Dont know if this is from BP meds or not but it is a fact of life for me. Luckily I have a very accepting and understanding partner. Having had performance problems as a young man allowed me to come up with stategies that minimize the problem. If I had been a stud I really would have been upset.
I have been working out for about 6 months, lifting weights and aerobics. I do feel stronger and I am making progress. Lost 75 pounds after tx, on purpose, using Jenny Craig. Still have a ways to go but what I appreciate now with SVR is that a a progressing on all fronts and not falling back like when I was sick. That outweighs all of the problems I now have. I do not have the disease any longer and my biggest problem remaining is accepting that fact.
