I'm both an experienced and new mom. My youngest is nearly 10. My oldest is 14. I've just found out I'm pregnant.
Lets just say the confirmation of the pregnancy is no where near as scary as the thought of everything that can go wrong. I've learned I have yet another title to bear - AMA (Advanced Maternal Age) as I'm 38. I was high risk before, so I'm still high risk now.
We've told few people. No family that would be devastated. Only other women who have been TTC - which we weren't - and two of my best girlfriends (one of which was with me when I received the phone call from my doctor confirming pregnancy). We're thinking we'll only tell the immediate family at 8 weeks (after the heartbeat is heard) and everyone else after 13 weeks.
How far along am I? I'm actually unsure. I've had light periods off and on for the past year. Some months I'll spot - other months Auntie Flo is a raging beast. So when in December - I had a couple spotty/light flow days - I thought nothing of it. Just marked it on my calendar. I kept a calendar to know when I was ovulating but since that was a wonky month, I was unsure. Now we are unsure if I'm 5 weeks pregnant or or 9 weeks pregnant.
So I'm curious - how many of you AMAHRMommies (Advanced maternal age high risk) are out there and what has your experience been like? Where you TTC or was it not planned?
