Firstly thank you to everyone for your notes and concern! I really thought my pregnancy was over when I saw all that blood.
So this is what happened - I woke up Saturday morning (NZ time) and did a few things then I went to the loo for a pee and looked down and saw red blood. I thought OMG, oh no, oh please no, not this time please. So my mum who was dropping by on her way home to Tauranga (which is about a 3 hour drive away) happened to arrive at that time so she took me to hospital as my DF was at work. We got to emergency and they put me in a bed and by that time my DF had arrived. They then took blood etc and said they were arranging for a portable ultrasound machine so they could scan me. We waited for ages and finally they wheeled the machine in. I swear I nearly had a heart attack from the anticipation of what I was going to see. I was sure the heart had stopped beating and that I was about to miscarry. As soon as she put the thig on my tummy I could see baby bouncing around and doing acrobatics. I cried my heart out with relief and then my mum joined in too, it was so nice to have her there. So after that I was feeling really relieved but then they wanted to check my cervix and was told it was a bit open. That made me worried all over again. They told me they were keeping me overnight to monitor me and that in the morning they would do another ultrasound on a proper machine to see if they could locate the cause of the bleed. So overnight the bleeding stopped and this morning they did the scan - baby was still bouncing around happy as. They couldn't see any reason for the bleed and discharged me and said for me to be on bed rest for the next few days.
I will ring the recurrent pregnancy loss clinic that I'm still under till 14 weeks tomorrow (Monday) and let them know what happened. I also have my NT scan coming up on Thursday so I will get to see baby again which is good. Thanks again to everyone - I really appreciate how caring you all are xxxxxx

I am so relieved and happy that all is ok with your little one. What a huge scare!!! I have been checking on you day and night so it's great to see this journal. Hopefully your clinic can give you some answers. They may have to stitch your cervix I have a few friends who've needed that and they've had healthy bubs. Again. So so happy that bub is well xx
Omg I'm so glad to hear you and baby are doing good. If they said your cervix was slightly open I'm surprised they didn't do a cerclage. I wonder if your reg doc will do one. I'm not sure if you have to be a certain week to get it. I can't tell you how much I was stalking your page! Again I am so glad your ok!! Take it easy and stay off your feet have df wait on you! I'll check in again to see how your doing. Sending you tons of hugs and give that belly a rub from me :)
Thanks so much my lovelies. Yeah I asked them about that stitch that you can get but she said without a history of an incompetant cervix they don't usually do the stitch. I think my cervix could have been slightly open to let some of the blood out - hopefully it's closed back up again. I will talk to my clinic about it on Thursday and I will also have a chat to my midwife and see what she says. I'm sorry I couldn't update you guys sooner but I don't have one of those flash smartphones where you can go on the internet - I had to wait till I got home. Thanks for worrying about me xx

Oh my goodness! I am so very relieved that you and the lil bean are doing okay. Phew! I will be keeping you both in my prayers my sweet friend!!! *hugs*
Yay, baby was clearly dancing so much he/she shook the house down a bit huh??!! ;) glad you're both okay, and hope it was a one off so that you don't have to go through that worrying again! :) x
I am happy to hear that. I bled red and heavy at 6 weeks and thought it was the end as well but they did the U/S and found a beating heart. It was a relief but the two weeks until the next u/s was awful. 20 weeks later we have and baby boy who kicks and punches me all the time and who is growing healthily.
I was told I had a subchorionic hematoma adjacent to the sac so basically it was a bleed from my uterus not affecting or touching the sac/placenta/or anything detrimental to the baby.
My guess is that yours is something similar. Yay and good luck! I am happy to hear good news!

dont worry it happened to me twice in this pregnancy and i admitted to the hospital and same like you no reason for that bleeding just rest as much as you can and dont worry :)

OMG!! Thank goodness you and your little one are all fine and dandy :) was so worried, will they give you a cervical suture to try and keep your cervix from opening? I really hope everything keeps going well hunny, you have waited more than long enough to get this pregnancy and baby and been through more than your fair share of heartache like so any others on medhelp, good luck to you and to your bouncy baby :) xxxxxxxxx

I am so glad to hear that baby is still doing great.
Make sure your cervix is closed and long. If your cervix opens you can lose a healthy baby. If your cervix is opening you may need a cerclage.

im happy that baby and you are okay but i hope you get answers soon for why you are or were bleeding. i hope everything gets better from here on out for you and lil bean=). my prayers are with you.

I just saw your news and I'm SO glad everything is ok with the baby! Thinking of you and praying everything continues to go well for you and little one!!!
Thank you so much all of you - I don't know where I would be without my Medhelp ladies! On my 2nd ultrasound on the proper machine, the tech seemed to think my cervix looked closed. She said it's definately closed on the inside but because I have a retroverted/tilted uterus it was hard to see the outside of my cervix on the scan. She also said my cervix looked long and not short. So when I have my NT scan on Thursday I will ask them to check my cervix and see what they think The hospital didn't seem to think my problem was an incompetant cervix they thought it might have been a bit open to let the blood out and that it would close back up when the bleeding stopped. I will get a 2nd opinion though!
So happy to see you are home and both you and baby are doing well...I am praying all continues well! Look forward to seeing how your scan goes on Thursday!

I'm so glad to see that you and baby are doing well. That must have been scary. I had some light bleeding and spotting with my DD's pregnancy (less serious than yours from the sound of it), which was scary enough. Went in for u/s and she was doing flips, looking perfect. And she arrived 7 months later, healthy and beautiful. I hope you don't get any more scares, and that you have a nice, uneventful pregnancy from now on!
BTW, I got pregnant with one of my m/c (last year) within a few weeks of one of my colleagues at work. I felt a bit melancholy seeing her pregnancy progress day by day when mine was long over, and then when her DS was born, thinking, my little one would have been born a few weeks later. I just feel so lucky that now I will have my own DS in a few months! Keeping you in my thoughts.
