I'm done!

Feb 04, 2008 02:06PM - 3 comments

If it wasn't so expensive, i'd probably consider burning my pump!!! It was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it enabled me to give dd breastmilk for so long when nursing did not work out for us and a curse because it has been the cause of exhaustion, frustration, bleeding nipples, etc... for so long.
After 6.5 months, i think i'm DONE!!! Luckily, i have at least 2 months frozen to continue feeding dd. while not as good as fresh, it is still better for her than formula. as we Ep'ers, say, it's time to HUTH (hang up the horns).

i wasn't planning on being done quite yet. i was down to 2 pumps last week, and just couldn't wake up early enough on thursday to get the am pump in before work. i slept in til 6:30 instead of 5:30! i was going to continue 1 time/day for a while but yesterday i was sooo sick with a high fever i skipped that pump too. i feel excited to have my life and body back, i feel guilty and sad for quitting.

Hey-you deserve major kudos for making it work and sticking with it for as long as you have! It's not even the easiest thing to nurse and pump while at work for myself, so I can't even imagine pumping exclusively for 6+months. Give yourself credit for being so selfless even though you know it was the source of your exhaustion and frustration. Way to go dedicated Mama!

You are a star, I have said so all along.  Have you even tried formula yet? I would definately advise trying to stretch the breast milk you have left out for as long as you can even if that means only one or two bottles of EBM a day and the rest formula, just a small amout daily will see her have the benefits of the breatmilk for longer. Sam finished up his frozen stash at 11 months old after I slowly weaned it down to just one bottle of EBM a day, wouldn't you know he got his first cold the very next week!!

After pumping at work for only a few days, I have a new admiration for you :)  Good job pumping for so long.  Your daughter is truly blessed to have such a dedicated mommy.
