Does anyones virus go right on the chest

I do have lung areas of fibrosis. I am 60 now and still breath ok but my problem is everytime I get  a cold or flu it goes on my lungs and I cought up green mucus for 2 to 3 weeks. Not that sick just it lasts forever in my lungs. The doc says its a virus and nothing can be done. Anyone with the same problems and what do you do to. Does anyone else take 3 weeks or longer for their lungs to clear up and the doc can`t do nothing.............

You need to find a new doctor.
If you are coughing up green stuff, it is a secondary bacterial infection, not a virus.
Do you know if it is coming directly from you lungs or could it be draining from your sinuses and when you cough, it comes out and you think it is from your lungs.  Either way--it is an infection.
