Well, my doctor has comfirmed that I have Chiari. He's not convinced that the Chiari is the only thing that is causing the severity of my sympotoms. Thus the title of this entry. "It Figures". You Know, I'm so sick of being sick. I'm upset that for so long Doctors didn't believe me saying I was trying to get attention. My Bipolar diagnosis gave them opportunity to blame my physical problems on my "mental problems" I remember getting taunted by nurses in the hospital saying that they could'nt believe what I was said because I was a liar. They torchered me psychologically to the point of breaking. I remember being locked in the quiet room straped to a bed. The nurse watching me said the most horrible things to me, many of which I have blocked out. She wouldn't let me up to go to the bathroon. She made me hold my urine until I was about to bust. All over a Diagniosis I may not have? And over pain that was all to real. The fibromyalgia diagnosis was made when it was a "new" diagnosis. No body knew what it was including myself. But I got the same resonponse from the medical field. Nurses thought I was faking inllnesses for attention. Doctors just diismissed any pain or discomfort as part of fibromyalgia, whatever that was. The fibromyalgia diagnisis was a dump all diagnosis. If pain was involved and a Doctor couldn't find a reaason. It was called fibromyalgia. Nobody respected the diagnosis. I dare to even think of all the money and personal loss I have experienced over the years . All the psychaitric hospitals that I left worse than I arrived. Hospitals are supposes to be places of healing, where you can be safe. But that's not so! Not when a roommate that was suppose to be your friend, helps a young black man rape you while she watches for staff. My question was, Where was the staff? Oh, she's Bipolar, it was consentual. IT FIGURES!!!!!!!!!!! There has been one bright light in all this diagnosis ****. Dr Joe Hank Wharon. He has never questioned wether or not something I've reported is true. He believed my pain and that fybromyalgia is a real diagnosis. Even though I had many problems and had to visit him all the time he never made me feel like I was taking up his precious time for nothing. He's a good Doctor because he listens and then does his best to find an answer. I'm not going to say that he is perfect but he is willing to try new treatments as long as he feels they are medically sound. Thank God that the Mayo Clinic put out a study reporting Mirapex ,a drug used for the treatment of Parkinsons Disease to be helpful in the treatment of Fibromyalgia pain My husband printed the article and I took it to him. He researched it and decided that he was fine with trying it if it would help relieve my pain. Over the next year it was exciting to she the changes that I had been able to make in my life because my pain levels were significantly lowered. I was 330lb s and using a quad cane at the time I began the medication. I lost the cane and 145lbs in that year. My pain has been returning even with the medication. My Doctor appeared a little stumped and out of things to try. They my sister sent word that she was diagnoised with Chiari. I talked to my doctor about it and after discussing my current symptoms felt like I may have the same thing. He did some test and had them sent with me to the Neurosurgeons office where he ordered tests and my diagnosis was confirmed.. However, the neurosurgeon does not feel that that is the only thing wrong because of the severity of my symptoms. IT FIGURES !!!!!!!!!
