Thank you all for your support. The vet just called me, the operation went well. No complication. Lucy is waking up right now. I will pick her up at the end of the day. She has a very long incision from her back paws up to her neck with plenty of stiches. Additional biopsie of the tissue is being done to see if the cancer spread or if it was just this area.
I will make sure to give her her pain medication on time. She will be sleeping a lot more. I will keep you posted on her progress. Maybe this journal will help other owners to make a decision for their fellow friends, as there is not much written on the subject as testimonial.

Oh thank God, its over and there were no complications....I've been stuck to my computer waiting for an update!! Now the recovery stage, which I am praying will go just as smoothly for our little Lucy. ((>^.^<))
The poor little tyke will need lots of tender loving care for the next while, she is so lucky to have such loving parents by her side. We here are all pulling for her too.
We also really appreciate your journal....this indeed will be a great help for present and future readers going thru the same decisions and to learn what to expect if they too decide on surgery along with the post-op recovery than Chemo. As you have found in your own search this information is very limited.

I guess her case was one of those I didnt read but now that I knew you both , you'll be added to my cat's and relatives friends.
It sounds like today is a day for good news and relieve,thats Great!
My heart is also lighter,one abandoned poor furry baby I was afraid would be death or going to to this morning got the big chance she deserves.( details in my last post)

Lucy is now at home. She is all remicated and restless. She does not know what to do with herself. She has difficulties to move due to the pain (or discomfort) and her protective collar, that she truly does not like. In summary, she is behaving exactly the same as she did after her previous anesthesia. It usually takes at least 24 hours before she is acting kind of normal. At least she is back home in her familiar environment.

good, glad to hear she's home...she's not a youngster at 14 takes a bit longer to clear that anesthesia from the system, but she'll be more herself by tomorrow. I hope she is on adequate pain control.....its hard to see her uncomfortable, if you think by tomorrow that she needs an increase call her dr. don't blame her abt the collar. has she eaten/drank anything tonight?
