Well, today I found out that the original information I was told about my medical ins was wrong.  See previous entry.  I found out that I have enough time on the books to get medical coverage thru February.  That was a true answer to prayer.  If I would only wait upon the Lord I could see and feel his abiding love.  My kitty has been a true blessing also.  She fell into the tolet bowl today.  Got her hind feet and but wet.  She would not let me dry her off before she ran into the living room, jumped into the water dish, getting her front paws wet.  If that wasn't enough trouble she jumped into a small garabage can , got a sm piece of tape on her hind front.  No problem getting it off.  Every time I think i have my house kitty proofed she shows me something else I need to remove.  It is even worse then a new baby.  Ony kidding.  Would not trade her for the world.  My hubby wouldn't let me change her name again.  Said I would confuse her too much so...squeaker it will remain. Any suggestions on kitty proofing my house.  I will take all the suggestions I can!!!!!

It IS worse than having a newborn baby! Lol. She sounds so much like Sakura. We need to get them together to play! Sakura has settled down some since we got her fixed but still has her "Spaz" moments!

It's a good thing you didn't put that blue stuff in your toilet! I could just see that! You remember the movie "Rocket Man"? I just thought of that! He fell into the toilet on the space ship and came out half blue! He looked like a blue Smurf! I'm glad that didn't happen to your cat!

I would suggest covering all trash cans, hiding all cords (you don't want her to chew on them!), putting up breakables or knicknacks that you don't want her to break. That would be a good start!
Welcome to parenting a kitten! They can be loads of fun but a lot of work too! She will settle down once you get her fixed, don't worry. In the meantime, play with her a lot during the day so that you wear her out at night time. Then, hopefully, she'll sleep when she's supposed to!
I'm glad the insurance deal worked out. I know you were worried about that. You're right, God is good.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with your kitty! Have a good night! :)

That sounds like quite a story. The good thing is they do grow up fast. But they do look very cute. We got our cats as adults. We bypassed this step.

Thanks April for the advice.  I have done most of the above but the nick knacks.  They will disappear for awhile.  I will enjoy her while I can.  Have to laugh.  I should have taken a picture of my husband on his hands and knees trying to get the mice out from under the couch.  Her play mice.  Lalapple, I wish i had 2 but will have to aettle for 1 at this time.  I don't have the energy to keep up with 2 little ones.  MJthewriter, They do grow up fast.  We have had her only 2 weeks and she has grown up alot.  She jumped on my lap while on the computer.  She is so fasinated by any kind of movement.  She also seems to be really smart.  Alittle dumb at times but it is age uh?  You cheated getting your cats as adults, however I also felt so sorry for the older cats at the pound.  So many of them were unable to go to homes with dogs or kids.  We have no sm children but alot of small nieces, nephews and grandchildre I wouldn't want them to get hurt.  Maybe after our doggy passes I will look into a another kitty/cat family member. Actually, it can make things easier on you if you had two kittens. That way they could play together and wear each other out! And they'd be more likely to accept each other as kittens than once they're grown adults.
I always said next time I'll get two kittens or two puppies. they can keep each other company, play together, sleep together. Or maybe I'll get a kitten and a puppy and see how that works?
I'm like you, Julia. I'm not getting another dog until my dog passes, which may be sooner than later with the way he's really been going downhill this last year, especially lately.
But if you have two and they grow up together they will be more likely to be close. It's just a thought!

Your kitten sounds both adorable and a lot of work.  I've never thought about kitten-proofing a house because we have both  cats and dogs (the dogs are worse).  The toilet seat stays down.  No shear or expensive curtains.  All cupboard doors should be secured so she can't get in.  No expensive cat toys because cats tend to reject the toy and play in the box they came in.  Expect to be manipulated  = )  There are some good cat toys for when she gets older - how old is she?  Squeaker - great name.

I agree with April - two kittens can keep each other occupied.

The Almighty, I believe, has shown His love for you by "sending" you Squeaker.  Cats and dogs love unconditionally, even if they do play in the toilet.  We just lost our 24 yr old cat, Pond Scum.  I hope Squeaker gives you that much time and that much affection.

Bellyrubs and treats to little Squeaker from:  Icepick and Anakin.  The dogs are too greedy to share  = )

stubby226, yes I did cheat getting adult cats. It saved us from the awkward kitten stage, but I also missed out on the cuteness.  But I don't regret it either way.  Really we never planned to get a cat.  It seems in our family we don't buy or choose our cats. They come to us.

Waldo: I got a call from one of my friends about one of his friends who were moving and needed someone to take care of their 9 year old cat for two weeks. Eager to have a chance to take care of a cat and with the supposed comfort knowing it wouldn't be a "forever" decision, I convinced my mom into letting me take care of the cat. I reassured her it would be only two weeks and no more.  At the time she was working as a live-in caregiver.

Well the guy came back after about a week to flirt with me, I mean check on the cat...he left, never came back, and that's how we got a cat. I wasn't going to dump him off at the shelter, so I kept him. He's a cute cat and is truely a blessing, so really I'm glad I got to keep him.

Sahib: Came to my grandma. He was a stray that literally ran into grandma's house to escape from being chased by another cat. My grandma let some neighbors know she found a black cat and she thought one neighbor possibly knew where it may have came from. No one claimed the cat, so he's ours. He's very "tame". We suspect he was bottle fed and was hand raised at one time before being abandoned. He tries to bite on anything that has a "nipple" including just about all our watering cans.

Grandma's old siamese (deceased): A stray that my grandma took in around the dead of winter. It was declawed and neutered. Hard to believe someone would dump such a cat.  No one claimed it, so she kept it for the rest of its life. It lived several years before suffering renal failure.

The saga of Squeaky continues.  Thank you MJthewriter for your cats history.  I remember as a child bringing an orange cat from Oregon up to Washington as its owner didn't want it any more.  I thought it was stolen from me one October.  He just disappeared.  However several months later we saw a cat just like him.  Some people said he showed up after Halloween.  I wanted to bring him home but the current family really seemed attached.  Squeaky has advanced from standing on the edge of my tub when I bath to laying on the edge like it was as comfortable as the couch.  She crawled upon my chest today and laid for over 1hr.  A first for her.  She also slept with me this am when I went back to try and get some sleep.  She appears to be pretty smart too.  I just wish I could figure out how to post her pictures on this site so every one could see my child.  Got other posts to read.  Have Bible study tonight so don't want to be to on this machine to long.  Take care.  Julia

stubby226 do you have an image editing program?  I use photoshop 7, but there are other things you can find like irfanview that can scale images down.  If your image has a .jpg, then you should be able to upload it. I can try to make a picture diagram (like I did with profile themes) if that helps.
