Spent the day at labor and delivery - I now know what contractions feel like and they got 3-5 min apart at one point. They gave me an injection of trabutaliene to stop them as well as hydration but it didn't work. Finally procardia did the trick  so I was sent home with a script for it as well as one for the seond steroid injection to help the babies lungs mature. I am 1cm dilated which they say is not unusual at this point the good thing was my preterm labor swab came back negative so that is very reassuring to us. After 34 weeks they will no longer try and stop labor should I start contraction again. So yes now I know what contractions feel like and am very glad to not be the pregnant lady who cried wolf =-). On a much lighter note when we got home my husband asked me to help him out with something in the new babies room and I walked in to find that he had redone the whole thing from painting to putting up a border and decorations to themeed outlet covers and light switches and valences for the windows. I had been feeling kinda down about the lack of things we were doing for these boys as we went all out with Aiden's room but with the way the economy and everything else has been lately we are trying to be prepared for the worst and the meant second hand everything this time - not that there is anything wrong with what we got I just always felt a little guilty about it. The best part was he just happened to find out Lowes was no longer continuing their lines of nursery stuff so he got it all at a ridiculously low price he said when he added that to the things laying around here that we had been meaning to return to that store the room ended up costing 30 dollars total. Wish I could post some pix but I am without my camera right now. It is soooo cute though!!!! What a guy.

That was so sweet of your hubby!! Wow $30 that is amazing!! I knew you would know if you have contractions. They are a little hard to miss. I had the same thing with the shot not really working. It would stop the contractions, but then they would come back. I have the script for procardia and it seems to be working. I get some yucky side effects though so just to let you know, it is normal to get headaches from it as well as dizzy and lightheaded as it may drop your blood pressure. That is what it is doing to me but it is better as your body gets used to it. I hope your body reacts better. It does work to stop the contractions though... Since I have the cerclage I'm not dilated, but Im sure I would be a little if the stitch wasnt there. Just remember to take it easy and stay off your feet as much as you can. You want those boys to be in there as long as possible.
They didn't give me any steriods since the cerclage should keep them from coming too early but if I start going into preterm labor again and my cervix tries to open through the stitch they will give me the steroid shot. I'm sorry you had to go through this as well, but on a selfish note it is nice to know I'm not the only one and I have someone I can talk to about this. Keep us updated...

Yay for your hubby getting stuff done!  I am sorry you had to go through that!  EEEEEK!  But that steriod shot is a good thing!!!  It really helps the babies!  =)  I already got mine for this pregnancy, and had them with my son!  I had myself quite the scare last night, I went pee (tmi i know) when I got up, I heard a pop and some fluid came out, had to go into L&D....UGH!!  I have a small leak from my sac, which I had with my son, but she is plugging the hole!  Which  my son did as well!  =)  So yeah.

Is procardia the one that is also for blood pressure?  I had one with my son, can't remember the name...  But it worked for me for 2 weeks....And then I hit 34w5d and they said I could stop taking them.  And I had him at 35 w...  =)

I am praying you make it longer than 34 weeks!!!  =)

Okay girlfriend...you've had enough FUN playing around with contractions...NOW STOP IT!  You have to bake those babies just a little bit longer.  Now that you are almost 31 weeks and have gotten the shots to mature the babies lungs, you should be perfectly fine if you deliver early.  With the hectic holiday coming up and knowing you will not stay off your feet, is it possible you are going for Christmas babies?

Seriously, I know that you weren't playing around with contractions...I know you were really worried.  So..my advice?  Do try to stay off your feet as much as possbile.  The more you are on your feet, the more pressure you are putting on the cervix.  You already know that.  So behave yourself young lady.

I am glad that everything is fine dearheart.  You know I have been watching you closely since Jelly and Bean got started on their journey.

Big Hugs,
Heather
