Bump, or blister with puss like liquid in inner thigh (bikini line area)

Feb 21, 2008 01:48PM - 12 comments

I'm wondering, I have experienced maybe once a year or once every two years a blister on my bikini like area (inner thigh) just one blister about the size of a dime, maybe a little bit smaller. It's pretty painful and it usually has a milky yellowish color. Can anyone tell me what this could be? The first time I got this blister was I believe when I was pregnant (2 years ago) and I remember my OBGYN asking me when I was about to get surgery to have the babies, if I got those blisters often. I told him not really. But since they went away we never mentioned it again. But now this blister came back and its the same place I got it last time. I'm a bit concerned. Could it be herpes?  Can anyone give me an idea of what it could be?

it is from shaving. i just started shaving everyday in my bikini area and as a result i have noticed two blisters on two seperate occasions in that area. they are clear bubbles filled with puss. i popped them and now they are flat and red. be sure to disinfect the area because they come from bacteria on the razor. so change razors everytime. so no it is not herpes..lol

well i agree with the person ahead of me but...
my mom got one on her foot and was screaming when her boyfriend was trying to pop it
but the thing is that it  wasnt on her thigh..it was on her big toe*
but she used these tips we found on the internet and now were waiting for the results:
1. wash hands and blister with warm water and soap
2. disinfect the blister and a needle with rubing alcahol
3. put a bandage on it when done with the rest of the steps

i hope that if you try these tips those mysterious little things will be gone for good*

I have a bump on my bikini line too. Various things I have read say it is probobaly an infected oil gland, and can be raised to the surface by pressing on it 30 minutes a day with a hot compress. It is not reccomended that you pop it, as it could tunnel under your skin. Nothing I have read points in the direction of Herpes. Most of it just says it is most likely an infection. If it is persistant, it is probobaly a cyst, and it really does need to be removed by a dermatologist, so it wont stop coming back. Dont be embarassed, many women seem to have this same issue.

I get bumps on my bikini line for a couple years now. Im a virgin so I don't think it could be an std of any sort. They don't hurt but im embarassed to get them checked out and I do believe that they are
from shaving. They do have a pus-like liquid in them. Im just curious.

Hi everyone!!! I seem to have the same problem over and over again... and I wanted to share it with you all. I shave my bikini line a lot during summer and last year for the first time I noticed a bump on my inner thigh next to the bikini line. I researched it online and found out it might be an ingrown hair. So I waited to see. It got bigger and bigger during a week and hard as a rock. HERE IS WHAT I DID. I took the tweezers small scissors and rubbing alcohol. I disinfected the area and the tweezers and I did a small incision on it. I did not feel any pain. It took me 2 hours of squeezing and cutting the skin around it and popping it till I got everything out. And at the end... I pulled out a small hair not even a quarter of an inch long... and UNDERNEATH it a lot of clear liquid.. As soon as I got it all out, I disinfected it again, applied triple antibiotic treatment and a bandaid on it. In 2 days it was all healed!!! So very important, make sure you have and use rubbing alcohol... That's the way I did it to save a trip to the dermatologist and save money... others need to have it removed in an office if it gets too worse. good luck!!!!

Hi... I have the same exact problem. I get this bump/blister filled with a puss-like liquid (like once or twice a year) on my inner thigh, right next to my bikini line (in the same place everytime). It seems to come around when I am completely stressed out. But I have also been shaving a lot down there during this summer. I have to say that I got laser down there like 6 years ago and when I did that, I never experienced this "thing". I remember the first time I got it (I was still a virgin...so it obviously wasn't an STD), I showed my grandmother and she said it was a boil...and then proceeded to pop it! It still worries me and it definately is super embarassing!

What someone said above about it being an oil gland makes complete sense, because oil gland do not go away unless removed! Does anyone know if I should go to the dermatologist to check it or to my primary doctor to get it checked?

If anyone has any  suggestions please let me know....

My 11-old-daughter has one of these---looks like a raised blister right next to her bikini line---I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow and will let you know what he says. It is very painful and red. It definitely has a watery, blister-like head.
