Ever since I've started taking Risperidone, I've had a pleasant reprieve from the night terrors that used to haunt my sleep. The last few nights, however, have been filled with angry thoughts, traumatic night terrors and a sense that I'm re-experiencing past traumas. I'm not getting restful sleep, and it's getting to the point that I'm afraid to go to bed.
The good news is that I've at least gotten into a good sleep pattern, thanks to my SleepTracker watch - which I would highly recommend to anyone (see http://www.sleeptracker.com/ for more info). I'm going to bed at the same time every night, and waking up about the same time everyday. The SleepTracker watch has really helped me develop some good sleep habits.
One of the benefits of the SleepTracker is that it tracks sleep cycles and keeps a record of moments during the night for which you are almost awake. The records for the past few nights show significant sleep disturbances.
I'm worried that the Risperidone has stopped working. As soon as I lay down in bed I'm filled with angry, hateful, thoughts that I can't seem to get rid of. When I finally do get to sleep, I begin to have vivid nightmares and flashbacks to previous trauma.
I'm going to discuss this with my therapist today to see what she thinks may be going on. I'll post an update later on.
