Pink Eye

I woke sunday with red eyes that was scary. I wound like to know if I have pink eye. It itches but when I tried to rub them they was sore and counld not be touch. So in order to go to church without causing a panic I put some eye drops in them (the in drops was for allergy relief) and about five minutes later the redness was gone but the itching and irritation continued. Oh and they drains at night bad but not during the day the draining started before the redness and irritation, and my eye feel like something is in them. My left eye is more irritated than the right. And if I do have pink eye do I have to go to my doctor or can I buy something at my local drug store
